A year ago, a short-film was released called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_gMRjL_6l8). This mini-movie was an aim at finally rebooting the long-forgotten Mortal Kombat movie (stuck in Development Hell), and essentially made as a tease so that Warner Bros would help finance the movie. The rebooted movie would be more true to the roots of Mortal Kombat: a dark atmosphere with intense violence and gore.
A year later (now), this pitch has evolved into an online mini-series, featuring 10 episodes. The first episode is now online:

Pretty sure everyone is waiting for the Scorpion VS. Sub-Zero fight scene...
A coincidence that this series is happening just at the time the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Kombat_%282011_video_game%29) video game is about to be released, a game that is also going back to its roots with a 2D environment, and a darker atmosphere focusing on gore, violence, and overall fun.
