"Yet the most visible plutocrat in America is Donald Trump, a man who has made a fetish of his power. What kind of sick mind conceives of a television show built on suspense about which "contestant" he will "fire" next? What sort of masochism builds his viewership? Sadly, I suspect it is based on viewers who identify with Trump, and envy his power over his victims. Don't viewers understand they are the ones being fired in today's America?"

I heard a rumor that hes not serious about running for president and its all just a publicity stunt for his show, this would explain what he said about Obama's birth certificate, if you open any 10th grade government book it will tell you if one of your parents is a American citizen, you are a full 100% citizen even if you were born on mars, i don't believe Trump is actually stupid enough to not know that.

I guess Donald just released his campaign slogan: "Celebrity Apprentice: Sundays 9/8c on NBC"

As far as I understood it you need to be born on actual American soil to be legible to the presidency.
Wich again is just proof that the whole of the charges against Obama is clear racism. As he was clearly born on Hawaii, in contrast to McCain who was born (on a US army base) in central America. But you heard anyone doubting McCains right to run?

The confusion erupts around the phrase "natural-born citizen" in the Constitution. In the past this has meant born on American soil, so the teabaggers try to prove he wasn't born IN the US. Its obvious bullshit, but that's where the birthers are coming from.

The birther thing is funny because John McCain was born in Panama.
Anyway, if he runs, I'm gonna forget about my principles for a minute to vote for him out of morbid curiosity.

Probably so he can invade Scotland and turn it into the worlds largest themed golf course.

He has said that he is going to do an independent if he doesn't get the nomination, and he has surely enough money to buy advertising space.
If he is elected the candidate of the GOP, he could be dangerous. If he is an independent, he would be dangerous to the GOP, since he could draw enough conservative votes to ensure Obama's re-election.

America has had a certain precedent of having celebrities becoming presidents so I wouldn't doubt it 100%.
Anyway isn't it the political climate, "realpolitik", that mostly decides which policies are enacted by government. Get them slightly afraid and we will see reforms, no matter if it's a republican or a democrat in capitol hill.

US military bases and embassies are US soil.

He can't, unless he buys out Rupert Murdoch, who is currently the supreme dictator of Scotland.

If he is losing the nomination, then it could be like 1992 or 1996, with Trump drawing enough votes from the Republicans to allow the Democrat to win (Obama's election was actually the first election in 22 years when a Democratic candidate got a majority of the votes, Clinton was always elected on pluralities).

Usually it's the other way around: people run for office, deregulate and privatize industries, and then enjoy a cozy private-sector job. It looks good on their resume.

If people are stupid enough to vote this bullshit into office, then the United States will turn into more of an intimidationist bastion of Fascism than we saw with George W Bush and his wars. Not only will his policies be the most nationalistic this nation has ever seen, but supremacist! Think about it. This cat is the top of the hierarchy of Bourgeoisie. If he gets into a power of political leadership, who do you think he is going to be representing - The middle class, or Wall Street? This is common sense.

I'd love to see Donald Trump elected. Maybe people could finally realize what a complete and utter fraud corporate-driven elections are.

Donald Trump, the guy who regularly defaults on big development loans and is currently involved in a huge lawsuit with Deutsche Bank, has good business sense... that's hilarious!

If we are going to have an asshole run for president, can it at least be a cute one like Charlie Sheen so I can have a crush on the president.

On the downside: if Trump wins, the american economy is screwed and we can count down to implosion. Let's just hope not too many people suffer and we don't have a dust-bowl 2 on top.
On the plus side: if Trump wins this is perfect time for a revolution ;)
