0/ hey all, i've finally found a socialist/left forum :D
Thankyou for letting me join up for starters, I live in australia, i have always been a supporter of socialist views, in fact i've joined the left faction of the labor party to show support.

Since working full time i have been a proud union member, and will hopefully become the deputy rep for my workplace :thumbup1:

Welcome to your home.

I haven't figured out yet whether it's "Home of the Brave" or "Home for the Dangerously Insane". Probably both.

I'm not super familiar with Australian politics but do you think the Labour Party would be the way to go? Most socialists would see the need to go beyond mainstream labour and soc dem parties, although entryism can be a valid tactic and if there's nothing else around that may be the way to go.Have you investigated socialist groups?

Admittedly I don't know anything about the Australian Labour Party.

yes i have thought about it. But really, the 'mainstream' labor party, is the moderate faction.... which sadly isn't too far from the right winged liberal party. The left faction of the labor party hold to true socialist beliefs but you rarely hear much of the faction's details except as a 'bunch of radical socialists' from the media. I find it unfortunate that people think of labor/liberal as 'the same shade of grey' now days, and i feel that things need to go back to the way they were- grass roots labor policy, equal rights for workers, a fair go for every man and woman

in fact i just heard a news report that BOTH labor and liberal are doing the same reforms for welfare.... why not just rename both parties and combine them?
