Obviously buisiness WAY outspends labor.
You also have to remember the political campain funding is just one way you buy the government, also offering high payed low work "consultant" jobs to ex politicians of family members of politicians is one of the biggest ways (look at how many ex politicians of government officials end up in consultant or lobbyist job for the industry they most sucked up too), because thats DIRECT personal money, Unions can't do that.
You also have basic economic power that transfers to political power. Unions don't threaten capital flight or lack of investment.

There are also huge Democratic fund raisers like AcrBlue and the vast amounts of individual contribution that gave Obama's campaign the financial edge in the last presidential election. This time around Obama and the Democrats are looking to makje and spend a billion dollars.
There isn't a little circle of corporations sitting around making policy for America--that's a Glenn Beckesque conspiracy. On the other hand things do stay in the same way things always have been in.
The inertia of America to not really change is big--also theTea Parties have been extremely effective in counterbalancing anything the Democrats want to do.

ActBlue is pro Liberal Democratic anti Republican. Indeividual corporate contributions are more tan individual labor contributions--because only 9% of businesses are unionized and that is reflected in the money they have to contribute--but Big Labor does make a signifugant difference--and so do individual PACs.

See, that's a kind of mystery. Now 1/3 of the people MAY BE Progressive--but if they don't vote (i.e. vote in government elections, voting for American Idol doesn't count) or get involved in political causes--they really have no say in the process.
They can have a say. They have a right to a say--but they can't be forced to have a say.

It's def. what folks in the IWW would be thinking. Not so much in the (lol) CPUSA or Revolution Books would be thinking.
Either way I got a different perspective. I'm not a Marxist-Leninist but as far as I can tell, Marxist-Leninists don't think the USSR was the best thing ever. What I've gathered is that they think there's, at least, some good to be found in the USSR even if it wasn't close to perfect, ideal, or, even, entirely desirable.
btw I think the "USSR was capitalist" is a pretty common line.

American unions DO spend a chunk of change on election campaigns, although has as been pointed out, the numbers Bud posted are a small part of the picture.
But they spend it really poorly, not because they're stupid, but because they don't have a clear vision of defending a class's interests.
The rich do. When the rich spend money on politicians, they spend money on politicians who are reasonably likely to defend their own interests, and more than that, they work together to create whole armies of intellectuals, pundits, party staffers, and so on so that money is actually spent fighting for policies which will be good for the rich. Unions either spend a lot of money in the vain hope that the Democrats will all of a sudden become progressive, or for either party defending narrow interests in the short run (say, police pay) that aren't good for the working class as a whole in the long run, or even a large fraction of it.
Part of the problem, actually, is that the unions spend so much money on the Democrats that the latter can afford to ignore the former. Business made a good call in playing both sides, and they continue to reap the benefits. I'm not saying unions should start bankrolling Republicans even more than they already do, but dumping money into the pockets of people who will consistently fuck them clearly doesn't work.

Then what are you here for? It seems like just to troll, but I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt.
Prove that fox news fans are stupid
Straw man. I didn't say FOX fans are stupid. I said FOX is the biggest trolling experiment ever conducted. And that many of their fans are ill-informed, and sometimes outright incorrect, on many contemporary issues.
There's a big difference than being stupid, and being ill informed.

I JUST TOLD YOU that the democrats are socialist. Therefore, they support unions. They just do it behind closed doors so the people who i disagree with dont fuck it up

Did you study at the jackass school of bullshittery?
If your only source is fox news then you don't have a legitimate argument. BTW in socialism there is no elite so wtf are you talking about. You obviously have no idea about any of these subjects and you deserve to be laughed at. If your post weren't so boring I might have laughed you off and reported you as a troll.

Havet makes real arguments so does Baseball, Robert is kind of a social-democrat, but still makes real arguments.
Although we almost never agree, I appreciate actually havint discussions, even if we don't come to a conclusion, because at least you get origional thoughts and viewpoints and you have to challenge your own, I have, more than once, had discussions were my mind was changed by someones logical and backed up arguments.

Back on the original topic of this thread, back in the mid 90's, I donated to both major political parties, Republican and Democrat. I sent them the minimum amount, $20, and got constant mail from them. Way more than $20 of paper and postage. This was before the Internet really took off, so this was the best way to get propaganda from both sides.
Later, in 2006, I donated to several left wing parties. DSA, CPA, RCP. Small amounts.
I don't donate any more.

Your reaching out with that one, but there are tons of inconsistancies, such as a corporation being a person is owned by people, or existing in many many countries at one time.
But you don't need to make any of these argumenst, corporations are not people, people are people, money is not speach, its money. Capitalists have to come up with insane rediculous logical gymnastics to make things work, they might as well say orange juice can have legal custody of a child, it would make as much sense.
