Equal Rights Rally in Lapeer, Michigan -- End Homophobia and Stop the Marriage Protection Amendment!
Following the recent marriage resolutions passed by county governments -- Lapeer, Jackson and Oakland -- and the push in the State Legislature for an amendment to the State Constitution declaring marriage heterosexual, residents of Lapeer County are now pushing forward with a statewide rally in opposition to these measures.
We, the residents of Lapeer County who stood in opposition to our county's resolution, call on all individuals and organizations through-out the State of Michigan to join us in staging a massive rally against homophobia and promote equal rights for everyone, including a demand for full recognition of same-sex marriage.
If you or your organization would like to assist in making this rally a reality and a success, e-mail me as soon as possible! We need money, speakers and lots of people! We're currently looking into a venue and the necessary legal issues, permits, etc. to find out how much we can do, especially in regard to marching and theatre/musical acts, as well as informational booths. The date of the rally is to-be-announced -- probably Saturday, October 4.
