Loads of groups in Brighton are coming together to show opposition to the Monarchy. Myself am not sure why it's on the day after, however. Comrades, come down and have some fun on the seaside!

We did this over here in America like 200 years ago.

The British monarchy is basically descended from Norman invaders who oppressed the Anglo-Saxon population of the country like how the Mongols oppressed the Han Chinese. It's basically a "conquest dynasty" that needs to be overthrown for good.

Normans out! I don't disagree really, but, for me at least, that's a pretty weird angle to oppose the british crown from. But yeah whatever floats your boat.

Well, it's just one angle out of many of course. Another reason is obviously that feudalism is immensely reactionary...

But actually in this case what I said isn't a "weird angle" at all. "Conquest dynasties" (e.g. British India - Queen Victoria was declared as the Empress of India) should in principle be opposed on the grounds of national liberation. Also, the pre-Norman Anglo-Saxons didn't even possess a fully established feudal society, they were still semi-tribal in some ways.

In China, "Manchus out" was indeed one of the explicit slogans of the bourgeois Xinhai revolution in 1911, which overthrew the Qing Dynasty.

If we oppose capitalist imperialism today, we should in principle oppose slavery and feudal imperialism in the past too.

not really, like the dutch royal family, the current line on the british trone is mostly german, its only in 1917 they dropped their german names in favor of windsor etc to make themselfs more populair and to prevent the same fate as their russian cousin nicolas II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Windsor)
