The most telling part was percentage of Children in poverty.
24.8% mexico, 21.9% US, 17.2% Ireland .... Getting up there richest country in the world, also 1 in 5 cronically homeless.
(The Us is the richest county in the world and number 6 per capita, so this bullshit argument of, oh its a big country, does'nt fly).

From the CPPP (http://www.cppp.org/research.php?aid=952&cid=8) on food security in Texas.
as everyone knows, Benedictine nuns are virulent commies, and have been known to clandestinely wear red underwear beneath their uniforms, or maybe it might just be that their data is right and things are indeed far gloomier ;)

As easy as it is to crap on Catholicism, I have a lot of respect for a lot of Catholic organizations and a lot of the lower-on-the-hiarchy Clergy, many of them have done wonders for workers rights, indigenous peoples rights, minority rights, fighting for the poor and so on. I could write a list that goes on forever on progressive causes they've been instrumental in. (FWI, I also think that Catholocism has butchered christianity beyond recognition, but thats a theological debate).

I actually would prefer a butchered version of christianity if I were christian; scriptural fundamentalism is pretty shitty when looked at deeply enough.
And yes, the bottom ranks of the catholic hierarchy do have some great reformers hidden among the assholes. That, however, is true of many religions.

Centralise banking have given special interest groups more power just because of their influence and has breed a lot of corruption. We need to go back to the gold standard and separate Government and the Economy.

Gold is just shiny fiat, even if it sounds counter-intuitive. There were major economic crisis caused by the flow of precious metal, inflation, deflation, etc. It's hard to see if the only info you're fed is "there was only a few % inflation a century", but in short bursts, what you got was cycles of massive inflation and deflation.

What kind of special interest groups are you talking about?

There are so many problems that would come with the gold standard, As far as separating Government and the economy, sure, as long as we start with ending Capitalist property laws.
