1. They claim to be against 'militant' Islam, yet frequently make comments that would offend any muslim, extremist or not. And thats just the leaders, never mind the rank and vile (sic) who make nazi salutes, racist gestures and comments.
2. They claim to be antifascist  yet they are infested by the bnp, even though the bnp has called them 'zionist conspirators' they haven't thrown out well known bnp members.
3. they claim to be anti shariah law, first of all it doesn't concern them if they're not muslim, second of all whats their issue with shariah law? Supposedly Shariah law opress women and homosexuals, supposedly they want the death penalty for sex offenders. Hang on, aren't they thinking of the BNP manifesto?
4. They claim to be only against islamic extremists, well without even going into the crap seen from their members, what has a daily mail story  about a muslim family recieving housing benefits got to do with extremist islam? Or the sale of Halal meat? WTF are these people on?!
5. They oppose 'militant islam' by adopting crusader symbols and Islamophobic extremism!?
6. This has to be the ultimate in stupidity and hypcorisy

Yeah sure, ban the burka, says the guy in the ski mask. No problem!!
Bear in mind as well that this is a group who claim to be anti-terrorist!

Also no Mosque, because only Islamic extremists visit mosques riiite?

I've never been to a counter protest, only seen them on Youtube and they seem to be quite well supported. Is this something to be worried about? Are we witnessing the rise of the next nazi movement? :(

I think they form the ideal breading ground for fascist and neo-nazi elements. But on the whole? No.

I hope you're right. I don't know if I'm just hyper-sensitive to it but there's a sickening rise in Islamophobia, and its even quite mainstream, its gone way past tabloid sensationalist crap.. :( I know the numbers aren't huge, maybe in the hundreds across the country, but they seem to be growing. The UAF seem to outnumber them on most occasions though!

No.

Indeed, I know of nobody in England who takes these clowns seriously because they do not have a large support base. The only people who support them live in their basement for most of the year and only emerge when they want to have some form of protest against nothing.

The majority of support seemed to come from bored football fans juding by their attire and songs.

Some of the videos on youtube are hilarious. But it is disheartening to see working class people brainwashed into another convenient form of hate.

Its already happening, the commies fight the fash, the muslims fight the jews, the christians fight each other, and the bourgeouis watch it as light entertainment on the tv.

^^ I don't know why this would be such a surprise in certain situations. Certainly the left sympathies with Muslims as they are being discriminated against and demonised, not only in western society, but in their own lands in the Middle East via imperialist exploitation . They aren't natural or unconditional allies, but certainly have similar grievances.

Of course I would argue Socialism is tradtionally diametrically opposed to any religion, but the left are trying to uphold their rights, even to the extent I've heard supposed leftists asking for Shariah Law to be implemented (though I suspect they were trolling) so it seems strange for Muslims to attack them, they have enough enemies as it is, they're already demonised by the state and by the right wing (the latter are not mutually exclusive of course).

There is a subtle difference here- the left sympathises, or should sympathise with ALL people who are discriminated against and suffer-and indeed, it seems that many are Muslims in today's world- that does not mean sympathising with Islamic extremists and calling for Shariah law.

There is also no way of avoiding the fact that Shariah Law has little in common with leftist values and anyone calling for the implementation of Shariah Law is as reactionary as anyone else with hardline authoritarian views- whether they be religious or not.

Did anybody say ''Muslamic Reagans''?

Seriously though, I think the guy in that video sums up the membership of the EDL. They are xenophobic, yet cannot even speak English well.
