View Full Version : Communist Nightmares?

Okay, so this thread is about real, literal nightmares, not in the metaphorical sense. Has anyone else had bad dreams about communism? It's really concerning me. I feel like there's this reactionary inside me trying to get out :(. (Disclaimer: I am not actually a reactionary.)
The first one was that I was being attacked by anarcho-syndicalists because I wasn't a syndicalist.
The next wasn't so much about communism, but I was a superhero trying to spread socialism, but I ended up smashing a baby's skull, killing someone with a bicycle crossbar, and formulating a plan to blind someone with a crab's claw.
The most recent was different, much simpler and less violent, but I found it much more frightening than the other two. I had the opportunity to fight capitalism and help make the world a better place by going on a road trip, but I was unwilling to give up the material comforts of home to do it.

Has anybody else had anything remotely like this? Is it just that I'm really insecure (which I probably am?) I know this is Chit Chat, so you can have a bit of fun with this, but I would appreciate some serious answers too. I'm starting to feel like a bad communist for having these dreams and also kind of stupid for worrying about it at the same time. (Or should I not have even posted this at all?)

I have a feeling that Communism is in my closet all the time is and is going to pop out and cut my head off:

or sometimes I get scared that I will get shot by those evil Commies:

But then at some other times, I have good dreams, Like Castro giving me candy:

I think a communist nightmare would consist of one where capitalism turns back into feudalism...forever!!!!114!!!$

A while ago I read "Cities of The Red Night" by William Burroughs. A strange but interesting book. Its almost impossible to explain the book. It was kinda tangentially about some sort of alternate Utopian society although it was also the most bizarre book I've ever read. The art on the cover was a Flemish painting showing victims of the Inquisition horribly tortured or dismembered (I know this because I looked it up).

At the time I read this I was first developing an interest in socialist theory.

I think the dream was influenced by the book cover and some right wing type stuff about the horrors of Stalin I was reading on and off, to "see what the other side says".

Okay, the dream. I was in some sort of Rennaisance looking mansion with huge glass windows. The windows seemed to vary, one time when I looked out they were stained glass, another time they were clear and looked out on a huge field.

I noticed blood on the field. I looked again and there was a lot more blood. After a time I somehow knew that the mansion I was in was now under an ocean of blood.

I overheard people talking about me in the distance. Someone said, "she used to be a real idealist, now she's become a real fanatic"

That was the stangest dream I've had in my life.

I sometimes have good socialist dreams but they're vague and I don't remember much. They are along the lines that I'm working in some collective in a future socialist society.and everyone is happy , warm, and very friendly. There's a big feeling of community.

I recall having a dream, a long time ago before I got into politics or anything, about being lost somewhere in Vietnam and how it sucked being stuck in a dictatorship with no way out. I don't remember any details, though, since it happened maybe fifteen years ago when I was still a little kid.

I had a dream recently about a leftist discussion forum where the mods dishonestly ban people for calling them out on their bullshit RL politics, and are increasingly removing people who oppose them from staff.

IT WAS HORRIBLE.

I've had dreams about being stuck in endless bullshit arguments with people in the antiwar committee I work with, strangely enough. None about after the revolution.

I had a dream the other night about being chased by police at a demonstration, and I've had dreams about revolution, but no nightmares really.

I once had a dream that Marx traveled through time and appeared in my kitchen while I was doing the dishes, and he said "Is capitalism gone yet?" And I was like "Nah, sorry man." And then he said "Well, what the fuck, let me guess, those damn blacks got in the way again." And so I was like "Uhm..." and then we just sort of stood there uncomfortably.
I woke up crying.

I've never had a bad dream pertaining to Communism... I always make a positive association with the word when I hear it.

About a week ago, I was so tired that I woke up mumbling, "Karl Marx doesn't want me to have any socks..." I think the dream itself involved Stalin, but it was all very vague.

I never had a bad dream about politics myself, let alone communism. But I know of a comrade who was a member of a sect in the 1980's with a very strong top-down leadership. One day he woke up bathing in sweath after having a dream in which this sect leader had actually become the ruler of the country and how basically the whole country changed into a mirror of the sect.

Suffice to say he soon quit his membership afterwards.

Recently I've been having really weird, detailed and gruesome dreams in which I'm a narrator in a murder story. In one such dream I bare witness to kids being killed, skinned and have poems tatooed on their elbows, knees, and foreheads in an elaborate plot to frame their brother for their killings. I would be the narrattor with occasional comments like "such is life under the capitalist society, in which the value of lives is measured in money" which didn't evne make sense.

I even remember some phrases from the poems. On this dead girl's forehead her parents read in carved letters: "I hate her in my elbows" so her parents lifted her elbows to read again, in carved bloody letter: "I hate her in my knees". Then they saw something else carved on her knees. (it rhymed)

It's quite errie, especially since I don't even like crime stories, I've never read a crime novel.

I usually have a dream about things I've been reading a lot about, so I've had a few dreams in which Marx or Lenin or someone made an appearance.

More often I have dreams about nuclear events ands wastelands.

Not like Fallout wastelands. More like STALKER wastelands, except set in my area, and nowhere near as bleary.

i had some weird dream the other night, not communist, but vaguely political wherein i was some sort of 'black' greek/cypriot (don't ask me what any of that means or signifies) who was essentially involved in illegal activities (i think)...an anarchist maybe?

i also had a really bad nightmare where i ended up as a dissident irish republican and having massive arguments with my family and going to prison etc...fucking bizarre.

I just had a dream that wasn't a nightmare because it was fucking awesome. Basically it was like a cross between my real life and lord of the rings; think storming of Helm's Deep but in Westminster: Black Bloc vs. Uruk-Kai! I woke up before the end though so I don't know who won... was blatantly Black Bloc I reckon.

I had a dream about a comrade of mine.

We were in bed together. An infinitely large bed with no pillows. Then he went exploring and got lost.

I wonder what it meant? :)

When I can remember my dreams, they're either:

Incredibly fucked up; like the time I had a false awakening and thought my room was being taken over by electrical sparks. Or the time I found a multi-coloured creature in my kitchen that could defy the laws of physics. Or the times where I'm being chased/attacked by an Alien (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_%28creature_in_Alien_franchise%29) or the Thing (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing_%28film%29) or a Shoggoth (http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&biw=1920&bih=859&q=Shoggoth&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=). Thankfully I tend to wake up just before dying.

That or beautifully strange, like I'll be in deep space surrounded by colourful galaxies and nebulae, or on some extrasolar planet. Another dream I tend to have is one where I'm in an infinitely long corridor or infinitely large building (although the rooms have windows), and each room is different.

Chased?
Well, there were about 20 of them and only one of me, they wanted to hurt me, and nobody else seemed to care. What else was I supposed to do?

The other night, I dreamt that I walked up to a guy I used to have a crush on but don't usually talk to and started telling him about communism. He pretended to listen the whole time, and when I was done, he said "Uh... okay", and walked away, kind of freaked out. When I saw him, I had an unbelievable urge to reenact the dream.

Ok, so once I had a terrible nightmare about an endless meeting full of ultra-leftism and moralism. Needless to say, an activism break followed shortly thereafter.

I was a 3 stars commander of planet Earth(I am in charge of all infantries and artilleries unit) and the menace people at planet Mar want Earth and Mar to merge into one big planet. They ALSO wanted to enslave and kill us for their interest.

As Mar touching and breaking through atmosphere, the shockwave is the most powerful thing I ever been through and some of my units died from this. When the lands touched, the Mar units went invading on Earth and epic massive fighting ensure. I was making sure that all my artillery unitsare bombarding the enemy artillery units. So yes, this is the epiciest battle I ever been through. I don't know who won, I woke up in the middle of the battle and had to go to school.
