EDL attacked a UAF meeting.

Well, yeah they did.

The UAF held a well attended meeting tonight, but unfortunately rumours of the EDL trying to crash it were true. A group of anti-fascists stood on watch outside during the meeting to keep an eye out for the EDL. At around 8:45pm about 20 EDL came down the street shouting, and begun attack us anti-fascists. We had to barricade the doors to keep them from attacking the actual meeting. A few comrades had a few cuts, but nothing was as bad as the idiot who got inside and had a right beating.

To all comrades out there, stay safe and keep an eye out. This is very unusual for Brighton, so I cannot imagine what it's like for others in EDL hotspots.

About 7 of us antifa, one fella, a *bleep* dude got a bruised eye, and a scratch. One edl member sustained pretty bad head injuries and a few others black eyes, one atleast had a broken nose there was a max of 30 of them, no more. I reckon there was 25. Most of them gave up trying to get in after 10 minutes. But about 10 of them continued till the cops came

Thanks comrade, I wasn't going to allow innocent people being scared into silence. The meeting carried on whilst we held the doors. Martin Smith rightly refused to cancel, and congratulated us. I cannot believe they wanted to charge in there. There was young, elderly, Asian, and a black couple in there. All who looked shock that the EDL made their presence known.

If I'm honest, I'm more surprised about the Brighton division's size. A few months ago, there was atleast 7 of them. Now there's about 30. Which shows fascism is once again on the rise.

Yeah, I heard they attacked SP, SWP and the anti cuts stall. The comrades stood together, and the EDL got booed off.

Another thing to keep an eye out is that the EDL has been divided now. There's more 'militant' and who are openly 'right-wing extremists'. The North West infidels have many white supremacists in their ranks, and hate the EDL leadership for trying to cover the EDL's true nature. The NWI have revealed what they truly are about. However, this isn't a cause to celebrate. The NWI are the militant, and hardcore lot. And they're using NF tactics, and are attracting more and more EDL members to split and join their alliance (I believe they're just going to be 'insert region - infidels' from now on. And the EDL is practically finished.

If the NWI and this new far-right group evolve, and grow. The left will need to be a lot more militant. The EDL that showed up last night weren't there because it was about multiculturalism. They were there because it was organised by the UAF which is linked to the SWP. And that's their only reason. They called us 'red traitors' and said we're not 'English anymore'.

The fact they're attacking stalls in broad day light shows they're more confident. So depressing :(


But let's hope a new generation of militant, and 'left-wing' extremist Antifa evolves out of this.

let's not exaggerate- whilst fascism is indeed on the rise I feel that giving appropiate numbers is more beneficial to our cause that blowing things out of proportion. From the information I received from very reliable source there were more like 20 of them and members of Hastings&Eastbourne division were spotted amongst them. Having said that it is definitely something to watch for, but looks like so far they are not really that successful, having been fought off from the meeting whilst having superior numbers and previously getting a kicking during Smash EDO demo.

I wouldn't call the EDL Nazis, but it is astounding that they don't realise how a lot of their comments would sound if they replaced the word "Muslim" with "Jew." The things these people come out with make me die a little inside, but there's just no way of getting through to them. Their ideas are based on fear, hysteria and bullshit, and rational discussion just isn't possible.
