That is probably a pretty good article, but I will have to read it later. ISR is a fantastic magazine--well written, tremendously researched, careful to get historical perspective on the current events. I would have a subscription if I could afford it.

Democrats got the U.S. into both world wars, Korea, and Vietnam (Truman instrumental when French were fighting to recolonize, Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson intensified the war effort). As Howard Zinn puts it, the Dems collaborated with the Repubs in a "bipartisan effort" (the equivalent of one-party rule in a totalitarian state, Zinn says) to smash any left-of-center anti-colonial revolution that would hurt the profit margins of American corporations. The Dems did not challenge Nixon for the bombing of Cambodia. Bush, Sr.'s wars against Panama and Iraq were passed in majority Dem Congress (among the champions of the Panama war in the Senate, current presidential nominee John Kerry!).
