The Progressive Labor Union Front rejected and condemned the remarks made by the Secretary-General of the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions, Shaher Saed, during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway in Oslo, calling for "action to protect the Oslo agreement in order to prevent its demise," on March 17, 2011.
The PLUF said that this position does not represent the Palestinian trade union movement; Palestinians will not regret the demise of the Oslo agreement and its annexes - first and foremost, the Paris economic agreement. The PLUF reiterated its call for boycott, divestment and sanctions against Israel as an occupying, settler-colonial racist power, noting that this position is that of the overwhelming majority of associations and organizations in Palestine, saying that this call must not be limited to a boycott of the settlements, which are part and parcel of the occupied power.
The PLUF noted that it is considering a range of options to put an end to the misrepresentation and abuses of the Palestinian trade union movement that do not reflect the reality of the workers represented by the Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions.
