I have always wondered this, I heard many theories, from the most popular one that says that it came from monkeys in Africa, to other who say it came from Russia, others say it was invented by the CIA, nazis say it was invented by black men, other say it was invented by nazis, I heard once it was invented in a lab in Iceland, but where do you think it came from? Please post a theory.

I posted this on this forum because I didnt know where it should be, but it is an important topic because it can affect our lives and is related to politics in some way.

The exact answer is unknown. It is believed that the virus was passed on from monkeys (or apes, chimps) to humans. Of course the virus had to mutate etc...

What's the origin of polio or Hepatitis CV? No onw knows because it's impossible to pinpoint the exact origin of ANY virus.

So i've combine the two and i think, that it originated in the jungles of africa then a tribe member ate an infected monkey. then through the reproduction process the whole tribe became infected, then it spread through out the world. but thats my theory try and perfect it, or knock it...

Primates have been used as a food source by tribes in Africa. It is highly plausible that an infected monkey was eaten and then the virus was passed along via direct fluid contact. As someone who has lived through the whole SARS hysteria, we have found out from inquiries and media , that SARS had its origin in cats which were consumed by some people in China. You do have a greater likelihood of getting something unusual when you eat exotic meats.

I read that it is most probable that AIDS came from monkeys from Africa. In some African societies the raw brain a specific species of monkey is considered a delicacy. This species of monkey happens to also transmit a virus similar to HIV, the virus that causes AIDS in humans. So it's likely that the blood of one of these infected monkeys somehow made it's way to a person's bloodsteam, most likely through a an open wound.

As far as AIDS becomine an pandemic, I beleive the reason it got out of control is on Reagans shoulders.
Being the political hotplate AIDS was during Reagan's terms, of course he didn't address it. (He is reported to have never uttered the word AIDS in his first term of office) He wanted reelection. It wasnt until the Clinton administration did the real funds for research and anti-virals come to surface. Reagan decided to bury his head in the sand and not address the issue. In 1987, I was busy lobbying in at my state capital for an AIDS clinic, testing and education, and a resource center for AIDS victims in north western Louisiana. Out of the work of a hand full of people, Shreveport ACT-UP ( I was one of 4 founding members) made it possible that the next time someone in north west Louisiana has unprotected sex, they have a place they can go get an AIDS test. A lot of civil disobience was in order as well. ( Yes, I have a FBI file on me for being a danger to American, I was an AIDS activist) During Reagans terms, someone like myself might as well have been a terrorist!

So why hasnt there been a cure yet? I truly beleive: MONEY in capital letters! The drug companies are rolling in it. If there was a cure, they would lose billions of dollars. Truly its the sadest thing I've ever witnessed in my life.

Out of 3 people with AIDS, only 2 of them know it. The fastest rising demographic that is being infected are young women between the ages of 18-30. Its something to keep in the forefront of your mind at all times., unless, of course, you are abstinent.

In the 10 years that I worked with AIDS patients I went to 56 funerals. I truly loved being there for those who needed me, many of them were shunned by their family and friends, in the late 80s and 90s. It truly was my calling in life. Unfortunately it took a toll on me as well, and I eventually burned out.

Let's knock this "monkey" business down once and for all.


First let us examine what a "virus" is and then we will examine what a "retrovirus" is.


A virus is an ultramicroscopic infectious agent that replicates itself only within cells of living hosts (the key word here being "hosts") most are a piece of DNA or RNA wrapped in a thin coat of protein.

Anything that requires a "host" to replicate itself is what is termed a "parasite". That means it is an individual piece of nucleic acid that is not indigenous to the "host".



A "restrovirus" (HIV) is any virus that that has RNA as its nucleic acid (as opposed to DNA) and copies its own genome into the DNA of the host cell's chromosomes.

The only difference here being that it's nucleic acid is restricted to RNA only and that it actually copies it's genome into the DNA sequence of th host, effectively mutating it. The newly affected gene is then providing new information to the DNA sequence that is responsible for cell reproduction. In other words, you are now changed at the genetic level. The only cure would be to completely remove all traces of the retrovirus within the body and then re-alter the affected genes with a normal human genome (germ line HGE perhaps?) that will now start reproducing normal human cells.


It is possible that the first known "infection" could be a primate as we share many of the same genes and DNA sequences, but it could not be possible for the primate to have actually "manufactured" the parasite from it's own genome. So in essence, the virus existed LONG before the initial infection making the excuse "mokeys" caused AIDS to be without merit.

The HIV virus does mutate. When I was an AIDS counselor ( I gave many positive results) The first thing we would telll a newly discovered infected person, ALWAYS use a condom even with other infected partners. There are so many strains and stages, you can re infect yourself with a completely different phase or version of the same virus!

I miss teaching HIV 101 at my local Red Cross. As soon as I finish with this upcoming tour, I might go back and teach again.

on the other hand, HIV and AIDs are horrible plights in the "third world" countries, and something must be done. From the way several things I have read were sounding, we could have a cure within the next 10 years. There remain several interesting avenues that we can take to halt or temporarilly stop the progression of this ailment.
The most easilly attainable "vaccine" (which is a nothion invented by Arabs and not by Jenning!), it sounds like, would come from the "Australian Strain" of the virus, which does not lead into an Immune-System decline. Of course, the nature of the virus is to be able to change constantly, so this route may not be a permenant solution. But it is the most easily comprehensable for a 2 yr. pre-med dropout loser like me to comprehend.

There is no cure for HIV. I suggest you both put aside your contempt for the man for just a moment as it is clearly obscuring your judgement. I also suggest you read my prior post in regards to viruses and retro-viruses. "Holistic medicine" is guilty of attracting crack-pots that think they can solve all of the world's medical problems with a few herbs and spices, or simply to leech money off people with terminal illnesses that are desparate to try ANYTHING. If that were true, Colonel Sanders would have been a great "doctor" instead of just being the "chicken man".

Unlike many say HIV did not come from Africa, and here is why( I learned from a man who treats AIDS patients): when a disease starts somewhere, over generations the people of that area develop immunities(There are people with immunites to AIDS, not all AID's viruses but certain mutations), in Africa AIDS is so destructive because the people lack exactly this. Saying AIDS came from Africa is another way the West gets to feel nice and happy about itself.
