A very expensive legal team, accounting team, and a set of government officials who they own along with apologists for them like Glenn Beck.

That is why capitalism is shitty, when you are rich the govt. wants you to keep all your money, because they rather exploit the poor than risk angering the rich and not getting campaign donations.

Very true. It's a sad fact of our system just how much people are in bed with one another. Reminds me of when some W.Va miners died a few years ago, and the wife of the man in charge of govt regs of mine safety was one of coal mining's top lobbyists. Go figure.

But anyway, whatever reforms are enacted to try and make everyone pay their fair share (or safety regulations, or environmental regulations, or any regulation to protect people/the environment) are in fact about 10 years to late to be effective and usually designed around obsolete technology anyway.

Asking this is like asking, "How did the Feds allow BP to let the spill happen even though they've been cited for hundreds of safety violations, including several major accidents with a few resulting in dozens of deaths?"
