Yesterday, our main Kasama site passed 3 million page views.

We reach this milestone shortly after our younger sister site Revolution in South Asia (http://southasiarev.wordpress.com/2011/02/01/milestone-revolution-in-south-asia-passes-500000-hits/) passed its 500,000 mark.

Its been quite a three years, and it is hard not to be a bit amazed at the ongoing interest and energy (even the passion) that this revolutionary project solicits. Props to everyone who makes this happen our moderators, translators, commentators, promoters, our hundreds of core participants and our sea of loyal lurkers.

Page views means the number of times one of our page has been accessed by a visitor it is not simply or directly a measure of pages actually read, nor a measure of how many unique visitors came. Certainly at least half of those page views are typically quick visits (for a picture, or by someone who arrives but bounces away).

Still, 3 million is a significant milestone for this site. It is a widely understood measure of raw traffic and of the continuing attention our discussions attract.

3 Million?

Pop the champagne! But seriously…

by Radical Eyes

Kasama has helped me to deepen and to sharpen my theoretical and historical understanding of a range of issues that I (now) see as crucial to thinking and to making revolution. The advanced level of sustained discussion is something that is not to be found in many organizations on the radical left today.

Two and a half years into my relationship with this site, I find myself now much more well-prepared–and much more courageous– than I was previously when it comes to engaging people from a wide range of perspectives, about a whole range of issues. The rigorous collaborative revolutionary schooling of Kasama has helped me to stand and to speak more clearly and directly for the kind of truly radical change that is needed, than I would have thought possible three years ago.

Kasama has provided us a place where it is possible to think and write boldly for revolution in an environment shorn of sectarianism and dogmatism.
I have learned much from the posts, discussions, and debates here, both about the substance of the matters at hand, and about the possibility of using principled and respectful methods in addressing what matters most.

This gives me hope.

All in all, my experiences with Kasama have begun to convince me that what is necessary–a communist revolution, here in the belly of the beast, as well up and down its furthest grasping tentacles–is actually possible. And that since it is both possible and necessary, we’d better take it up seriously, and together, with urgency.
