The law is that a single homosexual may adopt/foster but the partner would receive no rights either way, this is the first time a gay couple were collectively able to foster. hopefully this will speed up calls for full rights to adoption for all LGBT couples.

Great news! I can't help but confess to a certain inherited Hibernophilia, so it's always nice to see the more unpleasant baggage of that background being eroded.

Hell, one of Ireland's greatest heroes of legend, Fionn mac Cumhaill, was raised by two women who are generally thought to have been lesbians in the original, pre-Christian versions. (Bodhmall, a druidess who was his biological aunt, and her "companion", the warrior-woman Liath Luachra.)
