I presume they're called tablets.

Supposedly, you can hack an Amazon Kindle to be a web browsing device somehow. Apparently, the Kindle comes with a 3g connection for the limited purpose of downloading e-books from Amazon, but if the device is hacked successfully, much more can be done with the 3g connection, other than just downloading books. Not sure about the details on this however.

The kindle has a built in web browser but it doesn't work that well.

You can modify a $250 Nook to turn it into a low powered android tablet: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/hiner/how-to-hack-the-250-nook-color-into-a-full-android-tablet/7630

I personally don't think tablets are very useful. There are a few lower priced models around but most have pretty poor reviews.

Although I don't use it that often ( I don't do graphical design that much ) I'm quite happy with my Wacom Bamboo. I think that the picture you are (not) showing is a bamboo of a newer generation as mine. This is the one I got: http://www.ictblog.it/uploads/bamboo-wacom_2.jpg.

It costed me about 50 euro. What I've read back in the day before purchasing, was to stay away from other brands. You might be tempeted with the larger size (my bamboo is A5 size ) but the resolution is often not as good as with wacoms ( less precission ) . Also my wacom pen is pressure senstive. Other brands often don't provide that much control.

Personally I don't use one, but I've got quite a lot of friends who do. I'll have an ask about for you, also check out Amazon reviews - they'll be infinitely more helpful than anyone here...

Heh, I have that exact same one (Wacom Bamboo Touch), It's very good and I would definitely say go for it. I picked this one up for about £80, but that was over a year ago, you may be able to find a pre-owned one cheaper somewhere.

Whatever you do, don't buy a TRUST tablet, they may be tempting because they're cheap, but they suck serious ass.
