As a final project for my photoshop class you were allowed to do whatever you wanted, so I decided to some pro-Palestine propaganda.

It says "freedom for Palestine". I was gonna stick Arafat in there but he was too ugly/old so I just cut his hands off and used them instead. Looks religious or like Arafats hands are about to smack that Hamas guy (not good).

Opinions appreciated! The picture is not 100% complete.

Thank you :)

Rather Hamas than Zionist collaborators and capitulationists.

But thanks :)

Rather Hamas than Zionist collaborators and capitulationists.

Hamas as in the group that takes Israeli funding and whose leaders are both theocratic and plutocratic... The Hamas that agitated against women who didn't want to wear the veil. They have the popular support of a prison guardian with well-armed goons in Gaza. If you knew anything about them besides orientalism, you'd also know they're virulently anti-communist.

That said, Hamas aside, it looks good.

I would've worked with some PFLP guy but this one just worked much better -- perfect resolution and everything. Besides, Hamas is at the forefront of resisting Zionist colonialism and does collaborate with communist resistance (PFLP). I don't really see a problem.

Most graphic designers/artists know that there comes a time when you just have to say "stop" before you fuck the goddamn image up too much. So here's the final version -- deleted the typography for a more "artistic" edge and added some other shit like those doves.

I really really really can't be bothered to get into this debate, let alone here... I'll just say that Fatah collaborates with Zionism and is a sell-out organization which tries to sell-out and quell the resistance, something Hamas defiantly disobeys while continuing the resistance for national liberation. Im well aware that the petty-bourgeois nationalism of Hamas will not and cannot completely liberate Palestine, but Hamas is still an anti-colonialist organization which acts as the wheel of resistance for Palestinians and however fucked up the leadership may be Hamas still has rebellious and progressive cadre who aspire for a free Palestine.

The man in this picture is an ordinary but disgruntled and angry Palestinian who decided to take up arms and fight against colonialism and Zionism.. Am I not allowed to have him on the image? :)

Anticolonialist? Hamas has its feet deep in colonialism. They're the muslim brethren, rebadged, an organization which was largely supported by the british in their game of divide and conquer in the Palestinian mandate. Their charter is not merely anti zionist but also anti-semitic, and the only reason they have shortly collaborated with palestinian socialists is for their own power plays, as they otherwise consider them to be "jewish pawns".

The man on this picture is part of a right wing, anti labor, reactionary movement, is largely armed by Saudi aristocrats, with some money inexplicably coming from the Israeli government behind closed doors in the last few years, and his movement will likely take credit for the actions of others, while maintaining an oppressive administration in Gaza, which the FPLP has stated already it considers illegitimate.

Hamas Gaza is no better a place than d'Annunzio's Fiume, if the siege stopped; Hamas would probably not even last the month after all they've done - and that is probably the most disgusting thing, the far right in Israel and Hamas largely feed each other - the organization and the cause are two different matters altogether.

And I'm still not disagreeing that it looks good, I'm just a bit disappointed in the organization that gets the visibility.

It looks a bit too unsymmetrical with that weapon pointing out leftwards, in my opinion. If I were you I'd cut that away from the image, but I guess it doesn't matter now when you say it's done.

Otherwise it looks really good.

It's not too bad, hell of a lot better than some of the contributions this forum gets. Only things I'd constructively say would be to be a bit more subtle with the texture and maybe replace the faux-Cyrillic font. Also, maybe take out the RPG - as said before it makes it a bit too asymetrical.

The Cyrillic-looking font. It looks cool, but it seems unrelated and with the red and yellow gives it a Russian/Soviet feel... which I don't think was really intended considering the topic at hand.

I updated the image a while ago -- no font. Scroll up! :)

My latest version has no RPG (not online yet, though)

I think they are both very well done...but then again...I am easilly impressed since I can't seem to accomplish anything in photoshop :( So I am also jealous of your kung fu there :).

The first is a tad religious looking. The second one is much better.

Do post your last one. And let us know what you feedback was on the project.

Well, the class is finished and I got 10/10, which I think rocks. You can check my profile -- I posted my final project (the Palestine one and the Jiang Qing one)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! :)

yes, I realize this..

If I stuck some random hands in your face you would probably not recognize if it was Arafats or not..

Its the principle of the matter...you wouldn't put Stalins hands over a picture of Trotsky would you?

Are you seriously going to complain about this? These hands fit perfectly, why change them over a matter of "principles"?

You people need to chill the fuck out, shit. The left wing can't even agree over the internet over fucking posters, what does that tell about our IRL organisation skills?

It just doesn't make any sense having two people who hate each other on the same poster

I've been trying to do that for the longest time in my Digital Design class but I would get in deep shit if I tried.

Amazing truly. The second one is especially good. I think that the doves were an especially nice touch along with the yellow-orange hues. And I don't mind that its Hamas because in the case of Palestine supporting any opponents of Israeli oppression is the best way to go. Because lets be real Israel has absolute hegemony and the lives of everyone locked down in the prison that is the Gaza Strip would improve tremendously if Israeli oppression ended.

Good job.

My favorite Palestine-related photo is the famous one w/ the woman and the assault rifle...I'm pretty sure it was Leila Khaled? Anyway, that was a good one. Very retro, though. I guess Hamas is more contemporary.

I feel like there's a bunch of empty space above the larger dove on the left...

Overall, though, I like the second one a lot better.
