China remains the world's leading investor in low-carbon energy technology, a global study has shown.
The table, published by the US Pew Environment Group (http://www.pewenvironment.org/campaigns/pew-clean-energy-program/id/8589935316), showed that the Chinese invested $54.4bn (£34.1bn) in 2010, up from $39.1bn in 2009.

No where is alternative forms of energy more needed than in China.
Half of my relatives in China have solar panels. In the town I came from, most of the newly developed apartment buildings came with them.

I must say that this is very impressive. Especially considering the heavy amount of Greenwashing in the United States. I feel that this is in great part because of China's state influenced economy. Although it is not socialist it looks to the betterment of state industry-- and this is one of the good symptoms from it. The United States on the other hand is at the mercy of its ruling class many of which have strong investments and ties with the oil exporting countries. This is another reason why I believe that nuclear energy has not caught on in the United States. The ruling class would lose too much if they stopped trading oil, hence why we don't invest in other energies.

One of the complaints you'll hear in China is that the price is always on the rise for which ever resouce China needs (gasoline, iron ore, copper, etc). There's a feeling of constantly being gauged by the foreign capital controlling these resources.
Solar energy and wind energy are some of the few resources NOT controled by foreign capital. Naturally they should be used to their fullest advantage.

Praising China to some extent is ok, but don't forget stuff like the Foxconn suicides though!!

And I don't think anyone was actually doing it.

I am curious about the new energy research in China, in the field of alternative energy.

I hope that China will continue this path. It is very important that technological progress is made in alternative fuels for the sake of protecting the environment and securing future energy sources. It shows the advantage of a planned economy, since the investments are directed to areas that are incredibly important in the long run.

I don't think anyone of us who're supporting China on certain things are doubting the clear problems taking place within China's SEZs.
