Oh, and this guy was actually once almost elected to the Swedish Parliament on an official party ticket.

Wow, I...didn't expect that...I gave it a quick look thinking 'oh, yeah, this seems fair', and then I clicked on 'can spiritual values combat global warming? (http://www.peace.se/?p=159)' and got totally lost...

Quite amusing some of those comments, the crazy tinfoil-hatters have been spreading their disease pretty viciously in Sweden during the last 10 years.

It was actually worse in the 90's, with newspapers like Nexus New Times and the Bank Justice Association. At that time, the major newspapers also added to the hysteria, for example with Nostradamus Prophecies.

The Internet certainly has been fundamental for the return of the new era of those absurd theories though; they spam newspaper articles that have comments sections with their nonsense non-stop. It's particularly destructive with how it channels legitimate concern and disaffection onto a metaphorical cul-de-sac; come to think of that, maybe the conspiracy frenzies are conspiracies to do just that-

I would certainly do it if I was working with intel within the Military Industrial complex.

Like, pay them to say: "Yes, the Iraq War is wrong, because Bush and the Queen are alien blobs wanting to kill off the white race!"

The main risk with this is if people actually would start to believe that shit.

No, seriously. If you have the premise that Capitalism is good, and then is treated like dirt by it, you need to be able to explain the dichotomy between your values and your experiences, and you invent evil conspiracies.
