The thing I wonder is are they killing the ambushers? We always hear about 2 soldiers die in ambush, but how about Iraqi fighters killed?

What is it that makes redstar2000 think we don't watch the news?

What a bunch of idiots those stupid soldiers were firing at people in a wedding. The US army one of the most feared armies in the world has become from feared to laughing stock. No wonder the army won't go to war with any country with a professional army to match their own why?Because facing them would be suicide. You see this is why the US only declares war on country's that are military weak. The US is really nothing but a bully, just like what the world says.

OH NO A COMRADE DOESN'T WATCH BOURGEOIS MEDIA!

We can't have that!!

You need a 50 cc's of Murdoch and Packer Stat!

I mean really Enigma, the reason it doesn't suprise you is that it isn't that uncommon to find someone, on a board such as this, who would rather not watch such mind-numbing garbage!

The vast majority of most peoples knolwedge of the world and events happening in the world comes from reading/watching the news. Just because it happens to be a capitalist news channel or what ever does not necessarily make it unreliable. Or do you think that Ragi Omar is lying to you? Do you have a paranoid fear of Trever McDonald?

Or do you have a more efficent way of keeping up to date with world events, if you do then I would be happy to here it, but until you do I will just assume you live in blissful ignorance of the rest of the world.

Also the news is usually not "Bourgeois", for several reasons. The most important the news broadcasters are out for ratings and money, as so they must appeal to the majority of people, the majority are the Working/lower middle class.

I found this funny (from that bottom link):

Witnesses said soldiers, believing they were under attack, formed a circle and began shooting.

What kind of shitty soldiers were these ? Formed a circle ? What the fuck ?

I dont watch the "news" other than weather reports does this make me "ignorant"? Id rather get my current events from other sources than the "news" media.

I generally read newspapers as opposed to watching the new on TV since it is more efficient for me since I see lots of newspapers everyday. I also rely on second-hand information.

The bourgeois press is in come instances reliable, but you have to be able to sort out the facts from the fiction in bourgeois news. Those of the bourgeois pursuasion are incapable in some instances.

The bourgeois news broadcasters of course create news from the bourgeois perspective. The entire Murdoch empire is bourgeois, so is BBC etc. They may occasionally use a slightly leftist perspective but they are still lackeys and in many cases, part of, the ruling class. You are not a Marxist so it is understandable you do not believe that. But some of use are Marxists.

There's a lot of interesting stuff reported in the bourgeois media....but not widely reported. Easy to miss.

For example:

Coalition may relax grip on Iraq citizens (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34187-2003Sep19.html)

Gen. Sanchez suggests some changes in occupation tactics, admits that some attacks are by Iraqis seeking revenge for their relatives, civilians gunned down by the occupation forces.

Iraq Minister [Collaborator] Assembling Security Force (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A26642-2003Sep17.html) - "composed of former employees of the country's security services and members of political party militias". "Former employees" of Saddam's "security services", that is.

Congressional Republicans want to "lay claim to a share of future revenue from Iraq's oil fields" (http://fairuse.1accesshost.com/news1/times4.html) in order to "pay the costs of reconstruction" that is, the costs of enriching Halliburton.

I doubt much of that appeared on TV. What does appear on TV, is rarely in-depth, due to the constraints of the medium.

I don't watch TV news either, and I think I'm better informed for it.

The purpose of this series may (or may not) surprise you.

It's really directed towards the naive pro-capitalists that visit this particular forum--I want them to see "imperialism in action" on a regular basis and begin to grasp the consequences.

For this purpose, only "respectable" sources are useful, though there is at least one left site that maintains an "occupation watch"...

http://www.occupationwatch.org/

...and lefties might well find it more useful than the BBC.

I have not watched dummyvision "news" since some time in the late 1950s and, for that matter, don't even own one of those obnoxious brain-eaters.

If you have one, I sincerely advise you to throw it away at once.

Seriously.
