We have a whole sub-forum dedicated to combating Fascism and while I realize that is historically one of the great enemies of communism, I think that Christan Reconstructionism, also called Dominoinsm theology, is a greater threat than Fascism. For while Fascism is nothing more than a fringe movement on the Right, Domionism is on the rise among the Right. Former president George W. Bush was highly influenced by this movement as are many prominent right wing politicians.

These people seek to make Old Testament law the foundation for all law in American and replace the U.S. Constitution with the Bible, now I know we may not agree with everything the constitution says, but it is a hell of out a lot better than living the Law of Moses. They advocate the death penalty for offenses such as children disobey their parents and pretty much anything the Old Testament calls for. Of course, economically they are for lazzie-fare capitalism. I just though I would warn you all about this rather dangerous force in American politics and ask if you all have ever encountered those who follow it.

Christian Reconstructionism is hardly a mass-popular movement within even the Christian Right. Those people are ultra-conservatives, not fascists.

But wouldn't they have the potential to become fascist?

Yes. But all movements have that potential.

I doubt the theocrats could take power on their own in the USA.

I'd just like to point out that even though it is not a mass movement, it does have influence far beyond its size. As I mentioned Bush believed it it as did former speaker of the House Tom Delay.

No, Bush did not believe in it. He threw them some crumbs, but since they are a marginal occurrence, all they got was a state favourisation of religious organisations.

A reconstructionist president/congress would have to move against the US Constitution itself.
