I have also learned from some progressive friends i have in the internet, that Chris Hedges is suffering from depression. He should and must be depressed. What smart thinker and sociologist in the USA is not depressed? Just the observation of the general american population, their reaction toward problems and the economic crisis, their behaviour, their way of thinking, and the people around you in the USA and how they behave is a justified cause to suicidal depression. There was a music analyst who said that Kurt Cobain killed himself because he was too smart for USA and he got depressed by the excess of dumbness and apathy in this society.

The thing is that there are writters and thinkers who are real worried, who are the total opposite of the majority of people. So it is depressing to write books and write articles on how to save USA from doom but to see that nobody is paying attention to them.
