I've been reading through this site for about month and a lot of it has been informative and interesting but lately it seems like all the worst stereotypes about arm chair revolutionary types have been popping up in peoples replies.

just to give two examples from posts i've read in the last few days

on the issue of sexism against women - a lot of people replied with responses like "sure it used to be bad but now its much better, etc." "what about sexism by women against men"

and on racism against black people in the US - "what is white privilege?" and also just a general lack of understanding of institutional racism

these types of responses sound like a bunch of overly sensitive white boys who were radicalized by RATM I just don't get how you can call yourself a part of the revleft and not understand the inherently sexist and racist society we live in

the other thing is all this partisan chatter like omg bob avakian sucks and his followers are nutty but my group xxxx is totally legit
i don't belong to any groups, I go to some stuff by ISO, but other than as a way to connect with like mind people I don't see the importance of any of these groups in connecting with the masses/ working people

So what i really want to know is for people that are involved with these types of left socialist groups do you honestly feel that the work you are doing is realistically doing anything that moves us towards or prepares us for revolution not because i'm mocking you but because i am constantly trying to imagine what the foundations of revolutionary change would look like.

Revleft is a forum, what do you expect? This isn't representative of leftism as a whole, nor is it intended to be anything much more than a place for learning.

Were here to teach, learn, and theorize about different ideologies in the left. We don't post strategic battle plans, or how to make bombs.

Yeah, what he said. Basically, this is a forum on the internet, a tool. Anyone can sign up and post things on here, so there are bound to be garbage threads and stuff but when you sort through all the bs there is some generally useful information and contacts to be gained. Some people on here are actually real workers involved in and interested in learning about, educating about, and defining the class struggle in its present conception.

im not asking about how to build bombs or for "battle plans" (lol) again this is some sort of male masculine fantasy idea of revolution what i'm getting at is in my experiences with radical groups there hasn't been much talk of strategy other than a march or demo every once in a while, also these groups don't seem to have much connection with the working class and seem to mainly be college kids with middle class backgrounds

so what i was wondering was if people could share any experiences working with radical groups where they actually managed to build any sort of effective radical coalition

Effective how? I think that depends on the results you're seeking.

I have been involved in successful campaigns. Mostly around bringing people to speak in my town, and specifically there was a long fought campaign to get the downing street memo published in the local newspaper.
