I'm in the mood for a good documentary so I was just wondering if you all had any recommendations for good documentaries on socialism or socialist leaders? Even though I do not agree with him at all, I'd be very interested in learning more about Mao or Maoism.

Harlan County U.S.A.

Has nothing to do with socialism or any leaders but a labor struggle in the U.S. Awesome documentary.

Rather than some pedantic study of -isms or Great Individual™ bio-flick you may be more inspired by seeing labor struggle in action. With that in mind: Harlan County, USA (http://www.hulu.com/watch/166744/harlan-county-usa) is one of the finest films, let alone documentary, ever made. A more recent effort called the Take (http://www.thetake.org/) shows attempts at direct action and self-management.

Edit: the revolutionary left = hive mind?
