Whenever I get large bills (from a housemate paying a built-up utility payment or whatever), that's where I hide them until I can head to the bank.

Is this weird?

It is kinda weird, has a hint of superstition to it.

In Rounders, the protagonist played by Matt Damon (a poker player) keeps his money in Super System by Doyle Brunson, which was once considered the Bible of poker.

Because we all know your friends and family aren't going near that shit.
"Shit! The Marx-Engels Reader? You've been holding out on me, man..."

I was thinking of buying the Marx-Engels Reader but a comrade told me that it sucks so I bought the books individually. Though his unpublished stuff really overlaps too much of his published stuff.

Or maybe I'm thinking of the abridged version of Capital.

We used to keep some backup cash in my 14-volume set of Trotsky's works. My wife (then girlfriend) called it "the first, last and only bank of Trotsky."
