Dunno that it's necessarily leftist, but can I just ask if anyone else has seen it and if so ask what they thought? It's been a minute since I've seen the film myself, but I guess bumpin' my head all afternoon to Gogol Bordello has put me in the mood to talk about it. [In case anybody's wondering what one has to do with the other, one of the primary characters (Eugene) is based on Eugene Hütz, lead singer of Gogol, who incidentally scored and performed most of the original music.] Anyway, go!

Looks like a movie for/about really cool alts (via 2cool4life) and chill Eastern Europeans/rednecks.
Might watch it when it's on Netflix On Demand.

They should've hired you to write the tag lines for the movie posters...

My girlfriend made me watch it. I was thought it was going to be terrible. But it was okay. I thought it was pretty funny in places if I remember correctly.

I loved that movie. I thought it was going to suck when my friends made me watch it, but it is probably the best movie I've seen in the past year.

That's pretty much exactly how I felt when told about it.
It wasn't really what I was expecting at all. Not emo at all. At least I didn't notice. The main guy sort of had a slight emoish haircut...

Yeah, you know, I suppose what I really enjoyed was despite what seemed a depressing premise which turned out functionally to be a rom-com, it was actually quite clever in its execution. I suppose one might call it gimmicky, but the plot vehicle I thought was used sparingly enough that it didn't really become annoying. I personally found the characters quite endearing, Eugene especially. Despite having something of a schoolboy crush on Shannyn Sossamon and the plot centering around Patrick Fugit, it seemed to me Shea Whigham stole nearly every scene he was in.
Like the rest of you, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I didn't hate it, lulz...

It was good until the end. I felt the ending was rushed and a bit flat of emotion because it was rushed. But besides that, it was good, and a bit of a hit and miss with the comedy.
I did like the guy who played the mechanic, and is also in Sons of Anarchy. That part with him made me laugh.

I was surprised by how much I liked it as well. Definitely not my favorite but it was worth watching for sure.
