View Full Version : Reason why the US decided to act now.

Some may say this is just a "coincidence". Though, knowing full well the class interests behind the US and imperialism itself, I would say this is far from a coincidence. On the 16th, Gaddafi announced, while being interviewed with Russia Today, that:

“We do not believe the West any longer, that is why we invite Russian, Chinese and Indian companies to invest in Libya’s oil and construction spheres. [...] We do not trust their firms – they took part in the conspiracy against us."

Then, if not but just hours later, the US announced that they had made a decision, not only to support a no-fly zone, but also upped the ante by supporting full-on invasion against Gaddafi and those loyal to him.

Coincidence? I seriously fucking doubt it!

Where's the call for invasion? Source?

It's not a coincidence... Nor is it some ridiculous conspiracy like you seem to suggest. Russia Today is about as reliable and sane a source as prisonplanet, in fact they use Alex Jones for U.S. political commentary frequently.

It's a blatantly obvious diplomatic decision on the part of the US. The US is obviously a source of anger for it's history of Imperial intervention... So they wait until the rebels are in the most dire of straits possible, in this case right as Gadaffi is within 100 miles of Benzaghi, and then they pass the no-fly zone. Passing this when the rebels are on the verge of defeat allows the US/Europe to be displayed in the least possible negative light... it isn't some retarded conspiracy theory

What you should be speculating on is who the US wants to replace Gadaffi with, considering he's already been collaborating with US imperialism for at least a decade. It's also a bit of a mystery how China and Russia were bribed into abstaining from a vote on the resolution, rather then voting no as they had previously indicated

The US, before the UN made the votes to allow a no-fly zone, the US were calling for air-strikes against Gaddafi's forces:

Okay... And your thread is about "why they acted now"

As the LAtimes link says the pressure was applied as the government encroached on Benghazi
