Family oppression (or something...)

Can anyone explain this concept to me? Man oppresses woman, parents oppress children.. Someone care to explain?

I haven't read "Origins of the Family" yet, but I would think that would be a great read then, if you haven't read it already that is.

I believe families can work in a Marxist way, per se, for the adults. (ie, Sharing all labor equally, not objectifying each other, etc.)

But sociology is not my specialty.
