To answer your question, I believe to the Indian state, yes it's considered "threat number one" or something along those lines. Maybe the Indian government's propaganda method is to downplay and possibly (in their hopes, prayers, and dreams) undermine the Naxalites. I really have no clue and can only make assumptions, mostly, as you mentioned, AttackGr, because of the lack of coverage.

In my opinion, the real cause is that the tie-up of US-Indian rulers regarding Maoist threat is open and no secret cable is necessary in this regard. Both side are pursuing the oppression so much openly, why do they need secret cables? It would be a matter of disgrace, if there were names of Maoist leaders in secret cables because that means there is some kind of underground tie-up between Maoists and US state. THAT WOULD BE MOST DEVASTATING FOR THE STRUGGLING PEOPLE OF INDIA.

That is exactly the case, the Indo-US policy regarding Maoist is an open thing , USA has been supplying India with weapons and hardware suited for jungle warfare , and Israel too is involved, they are teaching Indian army on how to assassinate Maoist leaders .

Generally sympathizers do not comment in websites belonging to the bourgeois press due to security reasons, and those who comment rarely have their posts showing up in the page. As you can see, most of the posters are centrist, with a few rabid anti-communists here and there, whose lies are too obvious.

In the article it has been claimed that the tribals have no faith in the protection of the Indian government, as if that is the reason they are forced to support Maoists. But in reality, it is the Maoists who have to protect the tribals from the government forces that are trained exclusively to loot, murder and rape common people.
