Greetings all left wingers,
I've been off the message board for about a year and a half. Why? The same reason I was off it a year and half back in 2007-2008. Prison. Again.
This time they (Department of Homeland Security) arrested me on suspicion of gun smuggling, held me for 14 days, then when that had to either file charges, put me in front of a judge, or release me, they changed my detention to a material witness warrant. This means they could hold me indefinitely without giving me a way to challenge my detention. So I was held in a federal detention center in Tacoma, Washington for the better part of 6 months! :scared:
They finally gave up. No witnesses, no evidence, and I wasn't cracking. So they turned me over to my probation officer because you see this whole gun smuggling thing happened in Canada, and I had left the country without permission. So now I'm on a PO hold. I figure they are going to revoke me and send me back to prison for a few years. I get extradited to Wisconsin, and fought my revocation. That takes another 6 months. I lose, no big surprise, and I get 3 years.
I get sent to prison, do the 3 month intake, and finally arrive at my joint. I spend about a month there, and then suddenly they pull me aside and tell me I am being released that afternoon. Apparently I should never been revoked in the first place, because the offense (absconding) did not take place while I was on probation (I had a weird sentence). After a flurry of paperwork, I was released, free as a bird. 1pm, Monday, March 7th.
This means I lost 6 months of my life to the federal government, which I can never get back because of the way material witness warrants work. It also means I lost 11 months of my life to the state, which I CAN get back in the form of a lawsuit.
And that's where I am now.
Oh, and I've changed my philosophy to Anarcho-Communalist. Less revolutionary, more reformist and separatist.
