Kashmir is a place in the north of India. Actually, it's Muslim-majority and, by the partition agreement, should have gone to Pakistan. But India grabbed it, and the result is violence from the extremists from both sides. That's the story in a nutshell.

What's the ideal solution?

The ideal situation is you stop posting pro-muslim threads all the time.

Is it just me or do I get the feeling that someone is pushing an agenda....?

What about East Pakistan, aka. Bangladesh?

Ideal solution?

The socialist reunification of India with a united Punjab, Bengal and Kashmir. None of this muslim-majority, hindu-majority shit.

Its up to the people in cashmir to come up with a solution appropriate to them, not us.

Also cool story bro.

Sounds equally opressive either way, I'd go for Independence. Its not up to me though. And despite the in-depth historical analysis from op, I don't really know enough to comment.

Most Kashmiri people consider themselves Kashmiri than Muslim or Hindu. The leader of Kashmir and Kashmiri people during 1947 was Sk Abduallah. He is a secular minded leader and like to be with India than Pakistan and most of the Kashmiri people likes that too. They offered shoes (insult by Indian culture) to Md. Ali Jinnah, the father of Pakistan.
Though later it's fact that Indian Govt and its representatives behaved almost like autocratic Pakistani rulers to the people of Kashmir, but that doesn't mean most Kashmiri people put religion before their ethnic identity.

What did the Kashmiri people want?

I've seen some pictures of Kashmir protestors with Pakistan flags, but I don't know if that's done to incite or just troll the Indian police force/ army, or if its representative of many kashmiris or just a few. The Kashmir flag is very similar to the Pakistan flag, so maybe its just used where a Kashmir flag is not easily available.

I prefer the Jammu flag as a more secular and representative (and good Socialist colours and symbol!) but I don't know if it represents all Kashmiris.

That's a plan! Let's divide up the world according to religious beilef. Christians here, Moslems there, Hindu's someplace else. That's a Communist plan for sure.

As being half-Indian, I believe that Kashmir doesn't belong to Pakistan anymore than it belongs to India which is not at all. Kashmir belongs to neither India nor Pakistan, it belongs to the Kashmiri people.

You've clearly not been paying much attention, Bud...now that the Communists and the Islamists are in cahoots, we've decided to change the nature of the site to better reflect our new allegiance

The obliteration of all borders and states, including the destruction of both the Indian, and Pakastani states, and all others.
