so i came home like two+ hours ago, was hungry
this girl who i share a kitchen with had left her (cooked) prawns on the side covered up, but not in the fridge
I ate two
Now im worried it might make me ill. If she left them there for a few hours, is it likley?
Im thinking if i make myself sick before i digest them, so they get out my stomach, will it make me less likley to get food poisening?
I cant afford to get really ill, got bare shit to do tomorow and a big night so im kind of desperate not too
¿Que?

Maybe you can ask the girl how long they've been sitting there?

Pretty sure you'll be alright. Surely you'd have noticed if they'd been out for ages? I'm not sure about how effective making yourself sick would be against food poisoning either... Depends on how long ago you ate them I suppose. Still, would recommend it, you're probably fine.

Food poisoning following dinner parties with prawns on the menu are common. The illness resembles a mild form of cholera with an average incubation period of 15 hours. There is a rapid onset of symptoms with profuse diarrhoea often leading to dehydration, some vomiting , and fever. There is acute abdominal pain. The illness usually lasts 2-5 days. There are many serotypes.

No, that doesn't really mean anything important. Most of it has probably already been digested.

Here's something else you might want to be on the lookout for after your sickness passes in a week or so-

I leave raw chicken sitting overnight in my kitchen all the time. It's fish, which decays faster, but you'll probs be fine.

Not everyone is a werewolf, bcbm.
I think the most questionable thing I ever ate was Christmas ham that was a few weeks old. I don't recall it making me sick but it sure wasn't very enjoyable.

For what it's worth, I actually used to work in a seafood market. Generally, it's not a good idea to eat any seafood that's been sitting around unrefrigerated. On the other hand, it does help that it's been cooked as it's pretty easy to kill any internal bacteria since prawns aren't a very dense meat to begin with.
Out of curiosity, how did it smell? For lack of a better way to put it, did it have a strongly fishy odor? If not, you're probably OK. In the future, though, I'd definitely steer clear of any unrefrigerated meats (whether raw or cooked, especially seafood and poultry) if you're unsure how long they've been lying around... Dumbass.;)

As someone with a work history almost entirely in the seafood industry, I second this.

Yesterday I drank milk with a fuzzy ball in it. Needless to say, milk's not supposed to have balls in it, let alone fuzzy ones.

I drank soy milk that's been open for at least 2 weeks this morning. It seemed to be fine. I think soy milk takes quite a while to go off though.

I don't believe the bacteria that makes food smell bad is the same bacteria that makes you ill.

I'm pretty sure it does. I think it's like sour cream; it takes forever for it to spoil as long as it's refrigerated.
Interesting discovery this morning: The Woman decided to investigate why it was things seemed to rot so quickly in our fridge. We had just assumed we were really bad about buying more fresh produce than we could consume before it went bad (she chucked out a bunch of cilantro last night)... Turns out, that for whatever dumbass reason our fridge had been set to level 2 out of 10, lower numbers being warmer and higher being colder. The instructions inside the fridge say to start at 4 and move to 7 as necessary, lulz... Good thing I don't eat meat and the only meat she ever eats comes in frozen dinners as I assume it's been set like that since we moved in a year ago.
