Saudi Arabian troops enter Bahrain
More than 1000 Saudi troops take up positions around Bahrain, apparently to help the Sunni royal family control protests by the nation's majority Shiite Muslims.
A line of armored vehicles carrying Saudi troops was shown Monday evening on Bahrain television crossing the 16-mile causeway that links the two countries. The force began taking up positions at strategic locations around the country, including the neighborhood that is home to the royal family, according to witnesses and Western diplomats.

They finally enter to crush the rebellion.
Oh the crowd reacts when a protestor gets shot in the face in close rage by rubber bullets.

Man that must have hurt like hell
The other guys are kinda assholes for not being there with him though. I can't say I know what was going on at the time, it;s just what it looks like.

How to calm an angry mob, part 1. Shoot them in the face. Seriously though am I being naive to say this is exciting, revolutions happening all over the place, authority being defied by the people?

Nope.

Not at all. While I certainly wouldn't start declaring this to be the eve of the revolution, I am genuinely hopeful that we're seeing the seeds of a new wave of anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist militancy. The old Cold War narratives are breaking down both in the developed world and developing world, so there may well be some strong opportunities for emancipatory politics to push their way into the mainstream.

It's interesting how Ghadaffi is an evil dictator etc etc but the Gulf States are defending law and order......

This is the part where the Empire Strikes Back. I don't think these governments are going to fall as easily as did Egypt and Tunisia.

That is probably because Gaddafi is using aeroplanes. If the Saudis had done that, it would have been condemnations.
Like in school.
There was this guy I knew who was a kind of a bullying victim. Half-Lebanese, not particularly bright (even if I think he somehow was trolling us).
Anyway, there were often fights in the class. When two of the "ordinary" guys fought, the teachers just separated them and then they all were happy.
When this guy went around, he flabbed his arms crazily around, screamed: "I'M GUNNA WIPE UR ASS!" and then when he lost started to cry wildly.
Even though the reasons for the fighting weren't different from the other guys, he was always singled out by the teachers as a bad example, probably because of his conduct during the fights and his status in the class.

Lets make more sectarian references that are bound to derail this entire thread into more tendency wars, because that really makes people happy.

Scum helping other scum crush the very people they bleed dry every day of their lives. I wish the Bahraini people the best of luck and I hope they remove the leeches. Of course, you will hear very little condemnation of either the Saudi or Bahraini government from the West - after all, the Saudis give our governments oil and our governments give them weapons.

Its not sectarian, its history.

US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton has said Bahrain had a sovereign right to invite Saudi troops on its soil.

I saw the video of her saying it too, but it doesn't seem to be online yet.
does this give legitimacy for other nations to invite their neighbours in to massacre innocent protesters ? i thought this is what the UN/"international community" was for....?

There's a relatively short Chomsky piece on media language and the use of the word invitation; it's in reference to Vietnam and the soviet invasion of Afghanistan. It's fairly topical too, and it was online when I read it but I can't remember the title for the life of me.
Also, the guy getting shot point blank by rubber bullets reminds me of Quebec city (I was a kid then but yeah) - IIRC someone got maimed pretty badly because a cop shot them in the throat. Non-lethal my ass.
