i just recently found this book in a used bookstore. i've heard of it for a while but never saw it until last week. i read it all in one night-it's not very long- and i wasn't too impressed. everything in it is either really simply or really complex. however, for any of you out there who really have no backround in self defense or basic guerilla tactics i would recommend this book to you. my edition also has a basic ideological intoduction about anarchism. it will teach the basics about hand to hand combat and some simple weapons tactics as well. its very easy to read and i understand that you can order it online or order it at the big chain bookstores too. i've read the online anarchist's cookbook a while ago but i didn't really trust any of the information in that. this i at least know is reliable information, though it is much less extensive than the online cookbooks that can be found these days.
i remeber the last time 'cooking' was talked about on this forum a bunch of people freaked out because there are a lot of young kids on this site who might not have the best judgement about the very serious things in these books. however this book i can asure will be hard to abuse. the explosives that he gives you to make cannot be made just with the book. you need a hell of a lot of lab training by proffesional scientist to be able to cook those explosives or those drugs. besides that i'd add that kids will learn by their own mistakes if they are stupid enough to make those mistakes. there are somethings that everyone knows- like how to make a molotov cocktail. these are not toys of course and the uses should only be considered by serious revolutionaries.
one more word of caution- this book is definately considered by the government to be dangerous. if you live in the US surely you know about the new patriot act and the patriot act 2. i would not recommend ordering this book on the internet because you will have to use a credit card and your adress. the best thing to do would be to go to borders or someplace like that and ask them to order the book for you. give them a fake name and tell them that you don't have a phone number yet and can't remember your adress because you just moved there, just tell them that you'll stop in later and check to see if it has arrived.
that's all for now

dont get the book unless you enjoy blowing off your face, it is useless and outdated. btw the author has given into bourgeoisie policies.

The book itself was never very original. I've met William Powell and he admits that all the stuff was just cobbled together from SAS, CIA, and other military or paramilitary organisations handbooks. And by now it is definitely dated.

too dated to be worth the trouble.

pretty fucking typical reaction from the board...
how does hand to hand combat and basic weapons training get out of date? anyways i was just presenting it as a kind of novelty. do any of you have better books to suggest. i'm really looking for a specific hand to hand guide, with some simple weapons like knives and wire. i've heard the CIA has a training manual, know anything about how i would get it.

oh yeah, and next time with the pile of shit you dump on a book suggest better ones. instead of just saying its outdated, tell me about something new. please/ all i'm really looking for is help and conversation about books like this, i'm not trying to impress anyone or anything like that.

angry over people saying an idiots book is outdated? why the hell would anyone want a book that has "guides" to making bombs or "knife training" I bet you are just a guerilla wannabe who wants to go blow shit up. Here is some advice books to "train" you in certain tactics are a waste of your money.

Like somebody said, Powell's recipes are good mostly for blowing yourself up.

That's aside from the political problem: as Che said, "Where a government has come into power through some form of popular vote, fraudulent or not, and maintains at least an appearance of constitutional legality, the guerrilla outbreak cannot be promoted, since the possibilities of peaceful struggle have not yet been exhausted."

Alot of people believe Powell was a CIA agent, because much of the bomb making instructions seem purposefully wrong, and could result in you dying.

A lot of the stuff is stolen from Abbie Hoffman anyway.

Don't go dumping your jive on me AC. Just because I don't want to see people get incarcerated over a stupid fucking book. Most of it is common sense, and the rest is from "Steal This Book"

STB doesn't have the national security implications that Anarchist Cookbook does, and wont have people tracking you

ok,ok
but i've read steal this book, i didn't find it new or inciteful either.
but at least its not 'a waste of money' because it's free on the web. ratm site has it for free i remember that's where i read it.
is Che's guerilla warfare 'a waste of money'
is Mao's guerilla warfare 'a waste of money'

did i, in any of this string say i was interested in blowing things up?

fuck off truth addict

you think we should all not even try to learn anything about self defense, lets go eat another cheeseburger instead and stay fat lazy idiot americans.

'that's why i'm in the dojo

so what- tell me what you think!

seriously, i'm not trying to go hate on anybody, all i'm interested in is some talk about this.

tell me what you think we should do, go learn some martial arts- if so which ones.
what do you do.

i believe training your body is important too, you can't just have a strong mind.

all i hear from you people is how stupid i am or how my ideas are dumb, that's not helping me. that's not helping anybody. offer something besides criticism.

i found ches GW much more interesting than Maos, but his is much more ego-centric I think. Mao didn't use as much Guerilla warfare as he did tactical retreat.
