The governor simply has to declare a financial emergency to invoke these powers – or he can hire a private company to declare financial emergency and take over oversight of the city. That’s right, a private corporation can declare your city in a state of financial emergency and send in its Emergency Manager, fire your elected officials, and reap the benefits of the ensuing state contracts.

Yeah, also, they can void all Union-contracters. Its basicly a Walker Bill on small county levels.

I know the word "fascism" gets thrown around way too much...but this seems pretty close to the spirit of it as I've seen. Even citizens who voted for him and call themselves republicans are pissed, and that's saying something.

It seems to me that the free markets do not work. 40 states are broke and poor. Where are the people who defend the free markets. Please come out and defend the wonderful US economy with the free markets. Even comrade Bush was forced to get away from the free markets

Noam Chomsky predicted the rise of fascism in the USA. People thought he was crazy, that was some months ago, but man, there are many states, Arizona, Wisconsin that are already heading toward nazism and fascism

an element missing is the mobilization of reactionary militia groups in support of the anti-worker anti-bourgeois-democratic movement.

There are right wing militias all over the country, and I can only assume that many members moonlight as tea partiers.

OK, I'm well aware of the state of affairs in any bourgeois country and of the relationship between the political and economic spheres...but what the hell?!
This is crazy even for USA.

Idk man, at least fascists were/are for class collaboratism. I don't know how that translated to economic policy, but does not seem to me like class collaboratism, more like open class warfare...against the poor and working class, no less.

I highly doubt any states are sliding towards fascism, but rather, there are simply a lot of conservative bigots who manipulate people in order to get their way. They pander and pander to the older generations, trying to appeal to their racist emotions, but I think are largely ignored by the younger generation who seems to be more apolitical, and uncaring in their present state, than the politically conscious people.
I don't know how many of these para-fascist militia's there are within the United States, but I don't think they are a real concern. If they do,however, get out of control,I believe their destruction would be orchestrated quite smoothly with a civilian counter-militia.
I believe if we educate young people about leftist thinking then events will improve, and people will once again equate Marxism/Anarchism with freedom.

As I said elsewhere, this is the kinda shit that makes people support armed insurrection.

The thing is that conservative voters are not happy with this at all either. There is a movement to recall the governor and the republicans that's growing everyday.
