Sorry for the provocative title, but that's the word a friend of mine used. She, an Indian receptionist, talks about how people of color complain about racism while at the same being Uncle Toms.
I too have the experience because I used to spend time at the local resort here; the good treatment that whiteys receive is impossible to describe, in sharp contrast to the treatment given to the rest.
Point is, this goes way beyond money (because others at the resort also have enough money), so the 'financial reward' argument doesn't cut it. It seems more psychological in nature. So my conclusion is: racism is not the real problem. The uncle toms in the colored community are; like my friend says, they lack self-respect.
