View Full Version : The 'Fresh Conservative' outlook on Discrimination

So I found this video whose main purpose is to inform Americans that they shouldn't feel bad about prejudice towards gays, women, and ethnic/religious minorities, and how its silly to think of the rich as evil oppressors. Which is in fact what they are. Of course offering his bit about how white heterosexual males are losing America. Effectively the video argues that liberals encourage discrimination and that homosexuals are in a position of privilege over heterosexuals (apparently this person lives under a rock), that women are in a position of privilege over men (apparently this person hasn't heard of a wage gap or discrimination in the workplace) and that non-whites have a position of privilege over whites (apparently this person hasn't heard of an income gap between the races, gentrification, segregation, or minority stereotypes), and of course Muslims are in a position of privilege (regardless of the fact that after 9/11 they've experienced massive discrimination in the states, and hate speech towards Muslims has become tolerable).

Like any conservative analysis it wouldn't be finished without a reference to how abortion is murder, how liberals want to print the communist manifesto and poison the minds of our schoolchildren :scared:, how Thomas Jefferson the slaveowner is what made this country great, how great the police are and how they're being discriminated against. And of course how liberals are destroying the foundation of America. And global warming doesn't exist. To wrap it all up, Barack Obama the socialist Muslim born in Kenya is the man trying to take away our liberty (however much of it we have anyway).

Now I don't care much for liberals, but I'm curious as to how this illogical ideology pervades society. They attempt to make the viewers feel bad for the privileged? Excuses for the rich, for racism, sexism, and homophobia.

I honestly think seriously what the hell is wrong with these people. And the fact is I found this while I was browsing through some facebook pages and I stumbled across one with the word socialism in the name. But of course it actually had nothing to do with socialism and was instead about our glorious leader Barack Obama and his campaign to bring about the Soviet States of America.

Also these posts are pages filled with ignorance. There are some socialists on these pages, and some social democrats trying to debate these guys but the conservatives honestly don't even make points here. They're just condescending and make random remarks none of which have anything to do with socialism. The page which is supposed to be about socialism actually has nothing to do with socialism. I feel bad for the socialists who try to reason with those guys.

They're pro-choice, want to legalize weed, and are for gay rights. They're trying to take your rights away!

Well the whole point of conservatism is to justify and protect existing political establishments, property relations, and cultural norms. Reason and logic have nothing to do with it. Once you say "well, it would make more sense if we did x or had y to help people" you've crossed into more progressive lines of thinking. Their currency is nationalism, religion, and tradition.

And fear, which I find to be the most dangerous.

What?! More social freedom?! THAT'S ANTI-AMERICAN!!!!! TRAITOR!!!!

Seriously though, conservativism must be like a mental disease or something, it's highly irrational.

The guy doesnt really explain his reasoning for anything he puts in the video.

Why do men supposedly not have "protected status" (Whatever that means) and women supposedly do? What "protected status" do Muslims have that Christians do not?

Fear comes with those three. "Progressivism" protects capitalism through reform and defining how far left one can go before one is an extremist.

I think you see this in most bourgeois states - there's a faction of nationalism and tradition and a faction of reform and liberal social justice. A lot of parties balance these things. Problem is the US doesn't really have the latter anymore.

This bears repeating: conservatism has nothing to do with principle, and everything to do with the defence of existing hierarchies. Let's not forgot, it was an ideology originally developed to defend the landed gentry against the growing power of the capitalist class. Peel & Pals were only able to re-tool it in such a manner as to appeal to the bourgeoisie when industrial capitalism had itself become the norm in need of defence.
