I did not hear any laughter or anything that resembled them having "fun". All I heard from radio chatter was standard communications. Well...if everybody loves America I really do not see how it is doomed. But the radical left rejects any form of religiously inspired fundamentalist group of people who wish to impose a theocracy on anybody. I also noticed that. It seems wasteful to be using multiple missiles on one person and spraying cannon ammo in a group. There definitely needs to be some protocol and there probably is, but this goes on the individual level and maybe the commander.

Taliban aren't going to kick out the NATO occupation force. Are you taking Charlie Sheen, son? NATO has weapons so advanced, it makes the Taliban's guns look like swords. The only way to get the NATO occupation force out is through resistance internationally. There's no way the Taliban will kick out them, technology has advanced so much in the past 20 years. And the Taliban rely on opium sales, and donations from abroad. That's not enough to buy ammunition and weapons for a long time. Unlike the 1979-1989 Soviet-Afghanistan war, they're not backed by major world players.

Being "Leftist" (a simplistic category to begin with IMO) is to be socially critical and aware. Part of being socially critical is not equating the killing of civilians to the killing of armed insurgents :P you may be against those killings but you certainly wouldn't misrepresent them.

(2) These kinds of codes are equally valid to both sides, and as such the Taliban are bound by this code of pacifism. If you're going to take a Gandhian view of Marxism, you need to at least be consistent and histrionically condemning one side while ignoring the other.

Actually I would like to intercede here and argue as a devils advocate that the Taliban is and has been instrumental in prolonging US imperialist intervention in Afghanistan. Since the US intervention is mainly there to try and stabilise the current government stability will get them out quicker...and mass revolt can begin in earnest and with any chance of succes....as well as unionisation of workers and the seazing of industry and infrastructure by them.

As it is now there is a real choice between a theocracy endorsing fundamentalist reactionary force...and an imperialist intervention force and puppet regime....both of which feed of each other in a vicious circkle.

It would have been an entirely different matter if the Taliban were a socialist guerilla group who were actually worthy of support...in that case I'd point out that the increased insurgency is costing the US billions of dollars and completely disstabilizes the US economy and therefore capitalist system....incidentally worsening the economic crisis and radicalizing workers in the US because of the continued budget cuts and decreasing economy...

However...the Taliban is not...and its not worthy of any support at all.
