Hello,
I'm about to become homeless and was wondering if anarchists or other revolutionary leftists run some sort of homeless shelter in the orlando area or if there is a food, not bombs type of thing going on here? Or if there is some squat down here I could stay at (although I'm pretty sure most of those people might be lifestylists lol). I have a couple hundred bucks saved up, so money's hopefully not going to be a problem for a while. And I have my laptop and will keep most of my stuff in cheap public storage. But just thinking about where I'm going to sleep - that's going to be a problem since I know that the bourgeoisie make it difficult for homeless people to sleep even on park benches, especially here in orlando.

Call 211. It's the Orlando United Way's phone number. An operator will ask you some questions and refer you to possible resources/human service agencies
-or-
Go the their website: http://www.refersoftware.com/211communityresources/
The Coalition for the Homeless (aka The Coalition) is Orlando's main homeless shelter, although I've heard many people rather sleep in the streets than there.
The Salvation Army at 416 W Colonial Drive has a food pantry. You need a picture ID to get food. Last time I was there, they gave people that could not supply an electricity bill 2 nylon shopping bags full of food. If you have an electricity bill, which to them means that you can cook, you get a lot more...but you need to cook some of it like spaghettis.
They will only give you food once a year or so, but they will also give you a list of other food pantries in the area so you can food pantry hop.
If you're trying to stay in a hotel, I've heard that Home Suite Home (http://www.homesuitehome.com/) is relatively cheap.
Let me know what you end up doing or if you run into any problems.

there is a food not bombs chapter, which is in federal court right now, so they might be is the best sitution to house people, i don't know if they are even cooking... but they are a bunch of solid folks so if you can get in contact with them through their website they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the info Fulanito de Tal - I really appreciate it!
Thankfully, though, I won't end up on the streets after all! My boss is letting me work in another county and I found a place to stay there so yay! Oh, and my job - it's the greatest job in the world - I literally go through eviction notices and if the landlord filed them incorrectly, then the attorney I work for will sue the landlord! Ain't that cool? I'm dismantling capitalism everyday when I go to work! Fuck landlords!

You're welcome :)
I'm glad it turned out better than what was expected.
