Yea, that's kind of what I want to do, a high-school level teacher for now, but like, I guess I'm just wondering about how "safe" that's going to be as a communist and stuff. I would really love to teach history but I figure it would be safer to teach math so I'm kind of opting to do that. Opinions thoughts etc?

Well, you sure wont be allowed to read Lenin to your class kids.
But you can try to show them 'the other side'
And what do you mean by safer?
I personally think math is the second most important subject.Although, history is my favorite too.

Teach what you're best at teaching. At least right now, communists are safe enough as high school teachers...a lot of (active and outspoken) communists I know in the US do exactly that, and in many different fields including history. If you ask me, I think it would be a real shame if you did anything except what you would love to do. Anyway, it's a great decision to be a teacher, and I wish you the best in it.

Maybe not in high school, but I've definitely have had left-leaning college professors.
Nearly impossible to get a tenured History position now though. next to no chance.
I am looking into going into education as well. Just encourage them to not believe everything they see/read. Encourage them to ask questions and explore issues.

Safe as in, most likely not to be fired or in other ways discriminated against due to political beliefs.

Tbh I love history and math roughly the same, my main motivation for primarily choosing history is the political aspect. Thanks for the well wishes.

Hmm what do you mean by a tenured history position. Like in high school level stuff too? or just college?

I meant college.
High school-still not the easiest job to get. You need to be a coach usually :glare::glare:

I've been admitted to a very esteemed educators college dealio thing and I've got a pretty good shot at getting into this mad awesome program that's pretty highly regarded as well, so I should be okay in those regards.
Coaching though, blurgh. How hard is that to do? <_<
