I see what is left of the Workers Revolutionary Party (UK) is still cheerleading for Gaddafi despite all the splits and Healy acrimony. Can't teach an old dog new tricks, not biting the hand that fed etc. eh? This is why "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" position comes unstuck.

Castro himself actually didn't explicitly support Gaddhafi. He did equivocate though. But the foreign minister of Cuba did come out and imply this was all a CIA plot, as well as numerous "Leftist" *cough* media sources in Latin America. Not one mention though by either of bombers ordered to bomb their own cities, African mercenaries used to rape and terrorize local Libyans, and paramilitaries led by Gaddhafi's nepotistic sons.

Given the state of world leaders these days (and their lack of any revolutionary zeal & backbone) Castro is holding firm to Gaddafi for sentimental, revolutionary-nostalgic reasons. Gaddafi had a reputation--- before he changed gears-- of being quasi-revolutionary and anti-imperialist.

Libya is certainly going to be exploited to fuck by the western powers now, I don't think any of it originated with western interference but it's definitely going to be shifted if not from this point onwards then soon.

TBH I do not think anyone else from the revolutionary left or more importantly the Libyan people, will care about the WRP's support for Gaddafi, it is totally irrelevant.

I don't know. The RCG are invlolved in a boycott campaign against Marks and Spencers (a British supermarket chain) over the company's ties to Israel and they involve themselves alot in anti-war and Palestinian solidarity work. The RCG are more open and active than the WRP so it would make sense that they have a larger membership.
