Obviously it was'nt ONLY the wobblies, it was also the socialist party, it was students, even groups from the Jehovahs Witnesses, who were put away for publically opposing war, to pornographers who were censured for vulgarity were instrumental in securing freedom of speach.
Heres my point, the United States have gave its people freedom of speach, it was'nt a actual right in practice, sure it was on paper, but you still had wobblies being put in prison for reciting the declaration of independance, When people say freedom is'nt free they are absolutely right, the ruling class did'nt give freedom, but niether did the military.
The Anarchists did, the Socialists did, the pacifists did, the religious left did, the pornographers did, they fought, went to prison, they were killed they were shut up, and they got the freedom of speach that is protected today.
Don't thank the soldiers in Iraq for your freedom, don't thank the founders, thank a wobbly.
