From Marxist.com

"The ideas of genuine Marxism have been vindicated with the election of Manzoor Ahmed to the Pakistani Parliament in yesterday's elections. These ideas represent the only real solution to the problems facing the masses in Pakistan. This is the first opportunity workers have had to actually express their opinion of these ideas at the ballot box. During this election campaign many thousands of workers came into contact with the ideas of Marxism for the first time.

On one of Manzoor's election posters the main slogan was "Irreconcilable Struggle Until Socialist Revolution". So no one can have any doubt what the people of Kasur were voting for! When the result was announced in the early hours of the morning huge numbers of Manzoor's supporters came out spontaneously to celebrate his victory.

The bourgeois media prefer to highlight the advances of the Islamic fundamentalists in some areas of Pakistan in yesterday's elections. They prefer to give the impression that everything is moving to the right and towards barbaric reaction. But in the constituency of NA-139 Kasur II we have a completely different picture."

The even better new is that after comrade Manzoor's election victory he won over two more MP's to the ideas of Marxism - ideas which are now broadcast to the entire Pakistani working class on a daily basis!

Regardless of the election results in the Pakistani Parliament, The Pakistani Presindency, Pakistani cabinet and the armed force are all still controlled by the military dictatorship.

Unlike Chile in 1970, election in Pakistan will not bring in a socialist president as the Pakistani dictator, General Pervez Musharraf occupys the presidential palace.

These parliamentary 'elections' are a facade to fool the international community inot giving Pakistan the APPEARENCE of democracy. Parialment has NO power in Pakistan.

As it still is a dictatorship, Pakistan only hope is in a socialist revolution on the model of the 1917 Proletarian Revolution in Russia.

I think we're all aware of that stonerboi, the important thing about these elections as ive said is that Manzoor and the other Marxist MP's are broadcasting their messages dailly to the Pakistani working class, I don't think anyone can disagree that this is fantastic progress.

It is clear that Manzoor is no reformist, as Zombie already said he won the election on the slogan "Irreconcilable Struggle Until Socialist Revolution"

Manzoor will play a vital rule in the education of the working class and the inevitable workers revolution in Pakistan and the Middle East.
