I'll do you one better. I was at the grocery store last night and saw a pregnant woman just standing there three feet inside the door with a lit cigarette in her hand. Priceless.

I have. Nearly every time I've gone in the last 10 years.

They should move the little wipes container out of the door way because people arent thoughtful enough to realize there are others who would like to go through and shop.

On a similar note: Do the people on the street intentionally walk so slow? Are they trying to keep us from moving forward?

This is why I don't actually stop, just slow down. If they don't like it, I just tell the lazy bastard to cross at the corner.

The thing that drives me batshit insane is when two people park their carts next to each other in one of the aisles at the store and start a loud 20-minute conversation, oblivious to the rest of the world. I actually got so mad one time that I used the Amigo cart I was in to push them out of the aisle and told them to take it to a restaurant.

Yeah, I did that to a cop one time, and he turned around drove past me, then pulled over a little a head of me, but as I was getting close to him, he drove away. So apparently it annoys cops too.

I hate it when people don't properly look behind their car when they pull out in parking lots. I got hit in the leg like that once, so I took the sensible route and kicked their car, ripped off their mirror, and continued to kick their car until they sped off. Luckily nobody looked me in the eye inside Home Depot.:sneaky:

No but I have fond memories of Piggly Wiggly as a child. I buy from Kroger because they are one of the few unionized grocery outlets in the US, plus their produce and fresh fish is the best. I dont eat much anything else. I have to keep my school girl figure.

Publix is expensive. Their service is good though.

Try Latin grocery stores. The non-chain ones are the cheapest and the quality is great. So not so much Bravo, Sedano's, or Publix Sabor, but better Compare, Tienda Mexicana, La Mia #2 type stores (bobo names in the hood). The service is AMAZING. You could ask someone for help finding anything and they will help you out. They will even help you find the best fruit in the pile. As a bonus, many have cantina/cafeteria food inside at doable prices (meat, rice, beans, and plantains 3.50-5.00).

Although not as cheap as the Latin ones, Asian markets also have good deals. Plus, the have a lot more variety on Asian food than White guys (Publix, Wal-Mart, etc.). There's a huge variety of teas. It is also a good place for candies like Yan Yans!

As far as wiping your hands with sanitizer, I haven't seen that shit at any of the places I go to often. If I did, I would start shopping somewhere else. I don't think I could take the intense stupidity that comes with that.

The people turning onto a side street off a main road like they're pulling into a parking spot fit for a bicycle- get out of my way, I'm already driving 25mph over the speed limit, I can't stop for you- and the people driving 25mph over the speed limit that almost hit me while I'm turning onto a side street off a main road- let me take my time, I don't want to blow my tire out on the curb cutting it to sharply or hit someone at the stop sign there- give me a break already.

Last time I was in the states I went seriously mental from all the people in the lunchroom thqt would stand in line for 10 minutes besides an wall (!) with the entire menu painted on it only to start for the first time contemplating and discussing what to drink and eat when they are first in line and need to order. And everybody was just accepting that as normal. Pull that here and you are cursed at and shoved out of line.

I always seem to get stuck behind a group of people who are walking really slowly when I'm late. What annoys me most is that the pavement is actually fairly wide, but groups of people kind of spread out so nobody can get past. Sometimes I just feel like shouting, "God damn it do you always walk so slowly?"

We have a couple Piggly Wigglys in south Louisiana. I didn't know what Kroger was myself until I moved to Mississippi, theyre apparently all over America but we really only had local chains like Rouses where I grew up

ive never seen anyone wipe down the shopping carts either

Don't be so bloody neat,
Don't be so bloody clean,
Lady Macbeth she washed her hands
But the blood could still be seen.

Well you clip and comb your hair,
And you wash and brush your mind,
But you can't wash out the wrong you do
To all of humankind.

They say we can wade in the water
To wash our sins away,
But the blood you shed turns the ocean red
Tho you wash till judgment day.

Well the plowman plows the field,
And he's dust from head to toe,
But the man at the desk who deals in death,
His hands are white as snow.

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous thing ever to pick a fight about but whatevs... Anyway, I think you're missing the point. The thing that annoyed me most about her was that she was blocking up the doorway. After that I was just sort of musing about the fact that she was smoking indoors in a public building (which is illegal here)... The fact that she was pregnant was just another incidental indication of her overall stupidity. If she wants to smoke while pregnant that's her business, but she should find someplace to do it where it doesn't get in my way.

In the future, do us all a favor. Don't ascribe attitudes and modes of thinking to people you don't fucking know. You don't know me and don't know my motivations so don't assume shit.

We don't do it in England Original either. I've never even heard of having sanitary wipes for trolleys. Seems a waste for something that will inevitably end up in a canal, a student's garden or a drunk's bedroom.

I've heard that about England. I knew some people from England who came out to the states and they basically said that if 'all of this' was in England it would be destroyed or looted within a day.

I'm not sure how it is everywhere but I can not stand when some Lance Armstrong wannabe decides to ride his bike down busy urban streets during 5:00 traffic. Fuck you Lance! Seriously, at least once every couple of weeks this happens to me, on various roads. And the worst thing is that there are sidewalks on virtually every road. Use the damn sidewalks! Yeah yeah yeah, they are for pedestrians. That makes sense in say NYC or Tokyo where everybody is walking. Otherwise, if maybe one person a week walks down a street's sidewalk, I think it will be okay. If on the 1% chance a biker and walker meet, one can simply move 2 feet to one side. Especially since they will see each other coming for a mile!

I went to Amsterdam back in 2004, and the people driving cars struck me as kind of having a lunatic streak. The city is pretty damn old, and definitely pre-dates cars by no small degree. So the streets are frequently small and narrow. But these stubborn car driving folks seemed to zoom around and just power down these little old narrow cobblestone roads, frequently with seemingly reckless abandon. I almost got hit a few times, imagining that people would want to exert at least a modicum of patience and restraint in such cramped driving conditions. Then I'd get the cold slap of reality from a car wantonly blasting down the road I was on.

well i kind of agree with you but the real question would be offcourse what the hell you where doing walking on the road. yes i know our sidewalks are tiny, and that because they are both bricked it might be dificult sometimes to see where the sidewalk ends and the road starts but really, tourists, and then especially US tourists seem to think the moment they leave central station they are in fairytale disneyland and not in an actual city with actual citizens trying to get from A to B. And this is even before the tourists hit the coffeeshops. Being an amsterdammer who bikes everywhere and frequently have to cross the center i have perfected the swirl, the touristshove and the shoulder slam into perfection.
fun fact, when biking in amsterdam i even swear standard in english to accommodate the fact that 99% of the people i swear at wont speak dutch.
