Hey everyone!
I'm from Hood River, OR ('bout an hour out of Portland). I'm a musician and producer/audio engineer and I am currently working on setting up a small artist owned label.
As far as my political views go, I'd probably call myself a socialist anarchist.
I found this site just browsing the web and thought it would be nice to have people to talk to that don't make me go red in the face :P

A "socialist anarchist" with the member title "liberal bastard"? Pardon, but ye seems a bit confuzzled. Have you read any leftist theory? If so, who?

Yea, I'm a bit confused by that too, but welcome! I have a feeling we'll have some interesting discussion relating to this.


FYI, radical leftists usually hate liberals. Not because we're socially conservative by any means (well, most of us) but liberalism as we know it represents the left wing of the bourgeois, which in truth makes them center-right.

They support the capitalist system fundamentally, that is the problem. They may call for this or that reform to pretty things up, but ultimately the liberals and the republicans (substitute the arch-reactionary party in your area) fundamentally agree on the same basic framework.


In a way, this makes them worse, because they not only serve to protect the interests of capital but also set the outer limits on "left" discourse; go any farther than a liberal and you're an "extremist". Also, their habit of metting out little reforms here and there put a damper on proletarian consciousness in the long run, without providing any real answers.





Sorry for the rant, and don't feel unwelcome, just clarifying some basic leftist positions on liberals.
