View Full Version : Cop cooperation hypothetical:

Alright, this isn't to score any cheap points on anyone, I'm just seriously interested in what you have to say about it. I just posted in another thread that made me think of this. Lots of people on this board have said that cooperation/pushing cops to enforce pretty much anything is unleftist or whatever, so...

If some kid who had vague left wing sympathies came to this board and said he was going to blow himself up at a gas station or a mall, and gave a general area, would you alert the po-nine? What on this board would prompt you to cooperate with piggies?

If someone was going to do something intense, like blow themselves up at a gas station, or something else extreme, I'd call the cops to stop them if I couldn't get there fast enough myself. (Like if I was on one side of the city, and they were on the other.)

Besides that, I'd probably avoid dealing with the copers, and take care of it myself/with trusted people.

No shit I'd tell them. When it's a situation like that vigilantism would probably make it even worse... I'd rather cooperate with the police than have some poor kid off himself and a large amount of innocent people just because it's against lefty-cred to do so. It's just the responsible thing to do.

I think the police would most likely make the situation worse.

Yes, if it was a situation where someone was going to attack others and I had no way to stop them myself I would be left with no choice.

Of course..? Large part of the role of the police is to prevent stupid shit from happening.

Why the fuck would you not?

I would, but reading some people's remarks that they're against things like state punishment for murders (hate crimes, no less), I was wondering how far the logic could be taken. For some, it seems one murdered person is not enough reason to involve police after the fact, so I was wondering if a more extreme example would be considered sufficient to involve the police before.

Although, come to think of it, if someone blew up a place (not, say, wall street, but like a nursery or grocery store or something) and had posted about it here before (but was presumably still alive), and had provided some vague lefty justification, would you give said information over to law enforcement if it looked like they would "strike again?"

Like I said, this is more out of interest, and doesn't really reflect either way what I may do in that situation.

I called the cops one time when someone broke into my house and stole a whole bunch of my shit. They wouldn't even collect fingerprints when I clearly saw fingerprints on the outside of a window that was broken to get into the house. I had to take care of the guy myself... Last time I'll do it if someone does that.

I would call the cops maybe if I'm in a dangerous life or death situation, or if someone else is. If someone is sexually assaulted/raped or molested that could also be a reason. If there's domestic violence that could be another situation I'd call the cops.

Obviously we should oppose the institution and it's actions in most cases, but that doesn't mean we can't make positive use of them. Capital punishment is for far-right losers that get a hard on at the thought of bloodied corpses.

On this board? Nothing.
