Openly fascist, antisemitic and anticommunist party Jaunoji Lietuva (Young Lithuania) is participating in local and regional elections end of this month.
Their slogan is horrifying, "No faggots, Jews, gypsies, commies and niggers in our land", and they are allowed to participate, without anyone turning their heads in disgust over such slogans and morons sieg heiling on the streets.
Check out their propaganda:

How large are they?
I mean, maybe they get like 100 votes.
There are a about five small Nazi parties in Sweden, which are that size. While they are a physical threat to minorities, they tend to underperform in elections. No one is really wrought up, simply because most people hardly know about their existence.

They got 21,545 votes in the elections two years ago, and were just under the line to get seats in the Parliament. The percentage they got was 1,75%, but it would be bigger if Lithuanian leading parties weren't all right-wing.
Here's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithuanian_parliamentary_election,_2008)the political situation in Lithuania.

He probably meant the old canard that because fascism/Nazism is rampant in some post-communist countries, so the socialist era must have been horrible. Then how come Rasyte who is from Lithuania remembers the period as better than the present state of Lithuania? This is more of case of young people blaming the bad present state of their country on the old communist goverment, combined with historical vicious fascist tendencies - the worst SS murderers were always those from local populations of antisemites and bigots. Also, Stalin being a murderous asshole (I think he did things like deportations in the Baltics) also counts as a reason, through the period after him was pretty good.
Through for example pseudo-fascist/fascist tendencies in Poland and Romania are motivated by the fact that in these countries (also in Albania, through the animosity is lower as the present state is worse), socialism did suck, but these are more "exceptions to the rule".

I actually meant that the biggest reason for the today's nazi condition in countries of the late Eastern Block, is the socialfascism that was forced to people after '56. Back when democracy got forgoten, back when they went from revolution to..."all people's motherland" and the worker's party "all people's party".When socialism got deconstructed bit by bit and got replaced by a crude, totalitarian system that only by name you could call "socialism".That is the reason why the people's in these countries have that nazi and far right attidute.Because they never learned better.

These Nazis celebrated the Independence Day in Vilnius yesterday. They openly promote national socialism in the town square in the city's capital and nobody seems to give a damn apart from few antifascists who were chased away by the police.

The guy on the last photo is a dead Nazi apparently killed by the gay community. Self defense, needless to say. But that didn't stop the scum from shouting "Kill the faggots".
And here are lithuanian antifa, who were stopped from demonstrating by the police:

Funny story, the countries with the biggest nazi numbers nowdays, are the slav countries which Hitler called "subhumans". Obviously, some people over there are trying their best to stand by that name.

Lithuania is not Slavic, it is Baltic. The nazis actually viewed Baltic peoples as worthy of life.
They probably would have Germanized them by force in the long run, but they were one group considered racially useful.

It's disgusting that today, in the 21st century, people have forgotten what National Socialism has done in the past, especially in Europe. If Lithuania does indeed become a Nazi state, I doubt it would last for very long. It would cause a great stir, especially outside it's borders, and ultimately fall to revolution.

It will never become a Nazi state. How the ruling class exploits Nazis is, however, interesting.
The need for social change is constantly being replaced by the mythological nationalist tales and "conspiracies against the _____(fill the gap with any nation you can think of)". So what was meant to be angry working class youth shouting against social differences and capitalist exploitation becomes a youth that blames foreigners, sexual and other minorities for their awful situation and think of nationalism as a "proud way out".
The ruling class knows exactly how to use this in their advantage, and often stir up those debates any time a mass thievery of people is taking place.

About a year ago Latvia`s minister of culture referred to swastika as "an important part of national heritage". At the same time communist symbols are banned. So, yeah, things are pretty fucked up.
It will never become a Nazi state.
Why not? Far right sentiments are on the rise in all of Eastern Europe. The EU membership is more or less the only thing that keeps these regimes "civilized" now. With continuing erosion of economy and society caused by neoliberal policies as well as the likely collapse of the EU in the future, I think it won`t be long before we see the appearance of full-fledged fascist regimes in much of Eastern Europe.

I always thought that the Baltic people were used for the war effort, but after the war, they would have been exterminated or forcefully removed. However, i will look into the fascists in the Baltic states during WW2, to clarify and also maybe shed light on these groups.

Fascism thrives in situations like this. It shouldn't be a surprise, all the nazis have to do is slightly rebrand themselves, and give answers to peoples' questions. Obviously, the answers are false, but it's something to those they're trying to recruit. Inevitably, it grows :(
it's saddening.

They only had 2% of the vote in 2008. The SDP got 12.
That said, the NSDAP started out at 3%, we'll see if those grow.

Obviously, the years of Soviet occupation after WWII haven't helped Lithuania move towards Communism. They don't appear very fond of the left now, thanks to the failed efforts of the Russian communists.
That said, Nazi control of Lithuania is about the worst thing that could happen there. Lithuania needs a new communist/socialist party to combat this.

the years of Soviet occupation after WWII...
Congrats. You`ve just repeated the official bourgeois(and neo-Nazi) line. That the pre-1991 Lithuania was under occupation and that the post-1991 IMF and World Bank-controlled Lithuania is somehow independent(from who?) is how bourgeois propagandists like to portray things. Marxists should do better than that.
They don't appear very fond of the left now.
If you put national pride ahead of social justice, you`ll never be fond of the left. And rest assured, the regimes in Eastern Europe and Russia do everything in their power to steer the populations of their countries in the wrong direction.

My point is quite different from that.
I am well aware that Lithuania is not in any way independent from anything. Bourgeois domination is the last thing I could wish for Lithuania. But they did not like the Soviets. We, as Marxists, must analyze the reality of the situation there. The Communists are banned. They have tried (desperately) to tear away from the ideas of Communism. It's quite sad, but that's just how it is.
