Can anyone direct me to a source or series of sources that has a comprehensive (or together have a relatively comprehensive) history of socialism (marxist, anarchist, and others) and the labor movement in the U.S. I'm particularly interested in the history of state and national organizations from those areas and what happened to those organizations. If the histories could even go back to colonization era, that would be great.

On the history of the Socialist Party of America: (and very small section on SLP)
The American Socialist Movement: 1897 - 1912 by Ira Kipnis
On the radical side of the American Labor movement:
Subterranean Fire: A History of Working-Class Radicalism in the United States by Sharon Smith
There's also There is Power in a Union by Philip Dray. However, I would read that book with a grain of salt, in regards to the IWW, and anarchism. He really goes out of his way and has an axe to grind concerning those 2 topics. But the book is very detailed since America's first appearance of unions, and can give you the general details of the major unions/federations and the mainstream (moderate) unionists (Gompers, Reuther, etc.)
