LOL, apparently they are making a movie out of Ayn Rand's novel, Atlas Shrugged. Which for any class conscious human being, is the biggest work of bullshit ever. Thoughts? By the way here is the link to the story:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/12/atlas-shrugged-film-trail_n_822317.html

Slog tipper Bryan is my hero today. He has alerted us that the trailer for the first part of the movie adaptation of famous welfare hustler Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged has been released: 6W07bFa4TzM&gl
Holy shit, that looks boring. And cheap. But mostly boring. I wonder what market forces will do to this film?

This is dumb. When will Ayn Rand just die? When I first saw a picture, I thought it was like a weird troll/goblin thing.

Euh, she is dead, died in 1982, or did you mean it figurative?

I can't believe I used to be one of them. I am preparing for a zombie apocalypse; you never know to what lengths obnoxious seventeen-year-olds will go to in their hunger for socialist flesh.

*Yaaawn* you have to be a narcissistic borderline sociopath to enjoy a movie about businessmen 'not taking the taxes anymore' and 'drinking to business deals' like it's some kind of emotionally intense revolt against society.
Honstely even the polished, marching jackboot of fascism has more life to it than this mindnumbingly boring shit.

Ahem... Figuratively, of course... When will her spirit die >.> <.< I totally knew she was dead...

I look forward to the mental gymnastics that her followers will engage in when the cold hand of the market slaps this down.

Atlas Shrugged should not be mentioned without this comic:

They are making it into a trilogy? The unknown director is starring in it (figures, I'm sure he considers himself one of the enlightened productive gods of society here to rule over us slobs)?
Really a trilogy?! Does that mean the last movie is a 2 hour monologue?
I could never get through this book, but from what I know of it, isn't Rand's "far-out" fictional concept of the rich and "productive" leaving society a little like a real historical thing that happened called the Paris Commune?

Ha, Ravachol, actually that comic reminds me of another real-life example of when members of an elite ran off to form their own colony: Jamestown.
Late in 1606, English entrepreneurs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entrepreneur) set sail with a charter (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charter) from the Virginia Company of London (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Company_of_London) to establish a colony in the New World (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_World).
...
Many in the group were gentlemen unused to work, or their manservants, equally unaccustomed to the hard labor demanded by the harsh task of carving out a viable colony.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamestown_Settlement#cite_note-autogenerated1-6) In a few months, fifty-one of the party were dead; some of the survivors were deserting to the Indians whose land they had invaded.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamestown_Settlement#cite_note-autogenerated1-6) In the "starving time" of 1609–1610,the Jamestown settlers were in even worse straits. Only 61 of the 500 colonists survived the period.[7] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamestown_Settlement#cite_note-autogenerated1-6)
...by eating the dead:
A worlde of miseries ensewed as the Sequell will expresse unto yow, in so mutche thatt some to satisfye their hunger have robbed the store for the which I Caused them to be executed. Then haveinge fedd upon our horses and other beastes as longe as they Lasted, we weare gladd to make shifte with vermin as doggs Catts, Ratts and myce all was fishe thatt Came to Nett to satisfye Crewell hunger, as to eate Bootes shoes or any other leather some Colde come by. And those beinge Spente and devoured some weare inforced to searche the woodes and to feede upon Serpentts and snakes and to digge the earthe for wylde and unknowne Rootes, where many of our men weare Cutt of and slayne by the Salvages. And now famin beginneinge to Looke gastely and pale in every face, thatt notheinge was Spared to mainteyne Lyfe and to doe those things which seame incredible, as to digge upp deade corpes outt of graves and to eate them. And some have Licked upp the Bloode which hathe fallen from their weake fellowes. Ayn Rand's Objectivism: the fast-track to cannibalism!

Of course, you can be certain the Randites will be all over the torrent sites, trying to catch and report every single person who downloads the movie.:D

This is a description of Ayn Rand near the end of her life by one of the wives of her one-time boy-toy, Nathaniel Branden. It's worth reading for the description of the pathetic state Rand had descended into.

We don't need a film to show how Objectivism works. We already got Bioshock on how Objectivism works. :D
